Lubbock isn't that bad. And none of your Texas cities listed are as bad as Beaumont.

Agreed on both counts.

Lubbock shouldn't be on the list. Yes, it's pancake flat, has dust storms and weird airborne disease, and actual tumbleweeds blowing around.

It's still a big college town full of nice people are pretty women. There are canyons not far from there that give it at least a little bit of outdoor appeal.

I've had close calls in Gordo and Reform. But I had a trooper follow me for a few miles outside of Union Town and get me for 5 over. I'm sure it was just because of my Georgia plates—probably hoping I didn't have my insurance/ registration and wouldn't contest later in court. He did let me off with a warning.

lots of places in NM. I was just there last week. Holy reservation land, batman. That's all there fricking is. Albuquerque is essentially landlocked by Indian reservation. Just trailers and casinos everywhere.

Yeah NM is trashtastic. Santa Fe and Ruidoso, and the nicer parts of ABQ are all I have love for. The nature there is fantastic, though.

I work in healthcare risk management and my hospital client told me 1 in 3 New Mexicans is on Medicaid.

I'd love to go back for a Fall or Spring hike trip. Although AZ is so similar and much nicer.

Listing podunk town is easy.

A few people mentioned Macon, GA. I was on a long-term work assignment there right out of college. It wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be. Wouldn't want to live there permanently, but I've been to much worse.

Which brings me to Evansvile, Indiana. I was sent there when my assignment in Macon finished. In the 3 months I was there, I didn't find hardly any redeeming qualities to that place.

Roanoke Virginia
Jackson Mississippi
Pine Bluff Arkansas
Huntington West Virginia
Shreveport Louisiana

Plenty of others I've been to. But those stick out.

When I was stationed at Fort Knox I occasionally went down to Louisville and that is a nasty city folks. Trash on the streets and straight trash everywhere. Cincinnati was only a 90 minute drive or so and I went there when I wanted a weekend getaway.

Indianapolis is like to to me. It’s just sort of there. Has some nicer newly constructed areas, but no charm. Just a city.

Having lived in Jackson and Montgomery and Albany, GA, the only answer in this thread is Albany, GA

Indianapolis at least has a couple of really good steakhouses, and an NBA and NFL team when those are in season.

The only fun thing about Evansville was I was there during college basketball season, and there was a decent sports bar that was packed most nights watching basketball. Food sucked though.

El Paso, TX was pretty trashy when I was there (2008). That was the first city I ever saw that had places that rented tires and wheels. They are early adopters of trashiness.
