Someone famous (I think a former British Prime Minister, but I'm too lazy to look it up right now) once said something to this effect: "If you're not a liberal when you're young, you have no soul; if you're not a conservative when you're old, you have no mind." Disraeli maybe? I don't know. I know I'm growing more conservative as I get older for sure. Actually more libertarian. The thing is in this election...I think HRC may actually be more conservative on some things than trump. He's a con man, a charlatan. He will say whatever he thinks people want to hear as long as it helps him. He's all about himself first, and screw everyone else. Clinton is corrupt, and I don't like her. BUT, I think she is more center left than progressive. There isn't a conservative candidate running, except maybe McMullin. I know I won't vote for Trump, I can't stand him and would be afraid and completely embarrassed for him to be the POTUS. But I still don't know who I will vote for.

When I was younger, I was more conservative. I would have voted for Bush in 2000.

However, as I've become older, the terms "liberal" and "conservative" have very little meaning to me anymore. There are good and bad ideas on both sides. The world is moving at a much faster pace than it did 30 years ago and the ideas of how best to govern and ultimately facilitate people with opportunities to improve their quality of life need to adapt at a similar pace.

Mike Pence's airplane just slide off the runway.

How's that for a nice IRL metaphor.

Plane was probably made in China.

Everyone is okay.

The following demographic stats come from the very Trump leaning LA Times Tracking poll:

Likely Trump voters in Red, Hillary voters in Blue

When I was younger Pat Buchanan was too moderate for me.

The world is moving at the same pace. People are just too ADHD to pay attention to the things that matter. They're giving up liberties and freedom for the APPEARANCE of security. Marx and Lenin would be proud of what this country is becoming. The State is close to dictating how everyone lives, works and what they can have in their health now... thru taxes, regulations and "health care".

The world is moving faster. (ETA: not physically moving faster)

Thanks in large part to instantaneous communications and trading (the internet). The economy is now a global economy. The world has become seemingly smaller, because we are now seemingly closer, it is developing faster. To deny that this is occurring, is a little naive IMO.

Agree with this.

You kinda lost me here but in general, the more the State stays out of my life, the better.

I am for single payer though, I guess that makes me a commie.

Nah. It's the same pace. Folks just try to have their fingers in shite that doesn't matter to make it seem like there's more going on.

The State has exponentially taken over. The Patriot Act was one of the worst things to ever happen, followed by Obamacare. People, in the name of "safety and security", gave up their privacy and right to choose their health options. Obamacare wasn't even about health. Simply wealth redistribution, which in turns helps the State acquire more power.

Even in countries with socialized medicine, private medical practices and insurance exist, choice still exists, you just have to be able to afford it.

I agree Obamacare sucks though.

Nah. It's the same pace.

I can't agree with you there. The speed of communication has changed things in a very meaningful way. Social media has profoundly impacted the way we communicate with each other, in both positive and negative ways. Think about it - through this site, we have become "friends" and involved in the lives, if only superficially, of people we would otherwise never come into contact with. It's broadened our circle, and that's good. That said, we don't talk to each other anymore, we text or email instead. The art of written communication is going to be largely lost in another generation.

Social media has dramatically impacted this election. People have many more options for information - some of it credible and some bordering on conspiracy theory - all masquerading as "journalism" without a thought to journalistic integrity. Everyone pushes an agenda, and uses social media to reach other like-minded individuals. The Poli Board is like a huge social experiment.

Today's world is "smaller" too - global travel has ensured that a "plague" today could sweep the world and infect every country in probably a week - not months as it used to take.

I don't know. Technology has been amazing, providing great conveniences. It's also cost people jobs, and that trend is going to continue. As always, technology is moving faster than people can absorb it.

Any time the Gov't has access to your privacy is bad. Subsidized medicine gives them control over your life.

I would counter that it has changed it in a very bad way. People can't focus on what is important and is looking for the next shiny thing to get their attention, and everything else is forgotten too easily.

I'd say the entertainment value and ignorance of the populace in buying into sound bytes has affected it moreso. People haven't a clue as to what either stand for policy wise. But I'm sure they could tell you each one's sexual history and preference.

Probably needs to happen. No lie. Technology has allowed too many inferior people to exist.

Agreed. But it hasn't made anything move faster. It just cause priorities to become blurred and the unimportant, take important status, while blinding people to things that matter.

Meaningful doesn't necessarily mean good. There are positives and negatives in how it's changed our lives. I'd argue more negative than positive.

True - and those sound bites go viral on social media, reaching exponentially more people.

Which is disgusting in so many ways. This election has turned our political system into a farce.

History and science says it probably will. It's a matter of time. I believe the next war will be cyber and biological. Scares the crap out of me.

I don't think we're that far apart, really.

BREAKING:

FBI Director Comey has reopened investigation into dyin' HIllary's emails on private server LINK

BREAKING;
Blockbuster Audio From '06 of Hillary Proposing RIGGING Palestine Election...
LINK

here is an interesting excerpt from this bombsheel regarding Russia, given Hillary's current rhetoric about it and Trump. it exposes what a phony she is:

Clinton replied, “You know, I’m pretty much of the mind that I don’t see what it hurts to talk to people. As long as you’re not stupid and giving things away. I mean, we talked to the Soviet Union for 40 years. They invaded Hungary, they invaded Czechoslovakia, they persecuted the Jews, they invaded Afghanistan, they destabilized governments, they put missiles 90 miles from our shores, we never stopped talking to them,” an answer that reflects her mastery of the facts but also reflects a willingness to talk to Russia that sounds more like Trump 2016 than Clinton 2016.

Shortly after, she said, “But if you say, ‘they’re evil, we’re good, [and] we’re never dealing with them,’ I think you give up a lot of the tools that you need to have in order to defeat m…So I would like to talk to you [the enemy] because I want to know more about you. Because if I want to defeat you, I’ve got to know something more about you.

BREAKING: Trump up 4 in Florida in new Dixie Strategies poll. He is up 2 in Bloomberg poll. Wow.

Let's MAGA.

Well.. this can't be good...

The New York Times reports:

quote:

Federal law enforcement officials said Friday that the new emails uncovered in the closed investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server were discovered after the F.B.I. seized electronic devices belonging to Huma Abedin, an aide to Mrs. Clinton, and her husband, Anthony Weiner.

The devices had been seized as part of an investigation into Anthony Weiner's sending of illicit text messages to a 15-year old girl.

It's gonna move the needle a lot. Probably depress her vote and get nevertrumper holdouts of the sideline although their numbers were probably insignificant at this point.

The fbi announcement in the summer of guilty not guilty hurt her a lot in the polls. Reopening it and doing so this close to the election means they've got something.

It's very very bad for Clinton at a time when polls are starting to try and be honest.
