How long would you stand in line to see Mona Lisa?

It's not a line 250,000 people long. You essentially move through the museum looking at all the art and get to it at some point then move past it. It's not like a queue at disney world.

I thankfully didn't at all.... the Lourve is massive...so massive its truley impossible to see all of it in 1 day.... we made the mistake or I guess good love of actually looking at all the exhibits snd thinking we'd just happen on the Mona lisa...we eventually heard over the loud speaker the museum was closing in 5 minutes... we were still at that point about a 5 minute jog away from it...made it as they were closing the exhibit...they let us out of breath in for a second to snap a pic, but we were basically alone.

Went to the MET over the summer and they have a collection of Van Gogh thought it’d be cool to see starry night.

Walked into the room and noped right out after seeing the mass of people huddled around a picture you can pull up on your phone.

Went to the arms and armor section and the Greek/roman/egyptian wings and had a much better time.

I was more impressed with the Dutch masters paintings. The sheer scale and detail of the paintings is wild to see in person.

Luckily when I went to the louvre we got there when it opened so we went and waited in line for maybe 5 minutes and by the time we finished the line was already getting crazy.

We went with a tour guide. They had an entrance for tour groups off to the side of the main entrance. We got in pretty fast considering how long the main line was.

But we only had 3 hours to see the entire museum. The group around the Mona Lisa wasn’t too bad. The painting itself is definitely underwhelming. With all the hype behind the painting, you’d expect it to be a huge painting. But nope, it’s barely a life size portrait.

Now the Sistine Chapel is a different story. It’s not as big as you expect. But it’s amazing.

I think I spent an hour and a half, but its not like I go to Paris that frequently

Yep. It’s not a very big painting, it’s covered in a protective case. And you aren’t getting close to it. It’s basically like: “Hey you were in the same room as the Mona Lisa!”

Its really small, its behind glass, and there are about 300 chinese people between you and it.

Is it worth seeing? Yes. But there are MUCH more impressive things to see in the Louvre.

And the D'Orsay is better than the Louvre anyway if you're in Paris.
