C'mon Reedus you're smarter than this. Would you stop supporting an athlete on your fav team (pick a sport) if they were going thru a slump? Of course not

No we don't but I'm not bailing on a guy that is our HC & is certainly putting in the effort. Can he turn this shite around? Who knows FOR SURE. Is BO's ceiling a coordinator? Could be; not everyone is CEO material.

Not get embarrassed in every single game. We're pretty close to being too far gone at this point. Losing like we did at home against Purdue is pathetic.
At this point, I just want competitive games against SEC opponents, and I expect a 20+ point win against Idaho. I don't think it's realistic to expect this team to beat anybody else this season. If we drop below .500 at any point next season, can him.

Dude you can't say we expect to win 6 games and then win less than 3.
That means you failed at your job.
Defending Barry at this point is pretty absurd, he hasn't shown one reason to be given a 3rd year.

Show me where I EVER said he should get a year 3?
Next, show me where I'm defending him in this thread.
The thread is "What does BO have to do to win your support?" and I said I'd SUPPORT him as long as he's our HC.
ETA: I supported KA until the end. Did I like the product he put on the floor? NOT ONE BIT
Did I defend him in his last year? Nope; I said that he needed to put up or shut up.

All of this talk about recruits is interesting. It got me to thinking about Pete Adkins, the legendary coach of the Jeff City Jays. Pete did what good coaches do. He took what he had to work with and coached them to over 400 wins during his career. He didn't have the luxury of picking a player from somewhere out of state, he made some All-Americans out of local boys. Even a few NFL stars.
I don't think for one second that the athletic gene pool in Jeff City was any better than that at Hickman in COMO or Rockhurst or CBC in StL. It all came down to knowing how to get the best out of what you have...
And knowing X's and O's is only part of the deal. HCBO may know the mechanics...but he sure hasn't instilled the desire to win and succeed.

Adkins had a system in place that started teaching kids fundamentals in 6th grade. Webb City has a similar system in place.
Sometimes it takes time to get everything in place. Maybe BO figures it out here, but probably not.
I still think he will end up being a good HC, he just didn’t get th luxury of learning most of what it takes at a group of 5 school like GP.
GP at Toledo inherited a 10 win team and a great staff. If took him until about 4-5 years to really figure it out. By then he had turned his initial staff almost completely over.

I applaud you for that my friend. The program needs people who will stand behind the coach until he's no longer coach.
I might have read your post wrong but I took it to mean that you would support a coach, even at 1-11, but not if they're kneeling. In other words, if they kneel, you won't support, even if they're 12-0. Personally, I'll take 12-0 and kneeling every day of the week.

You didn't read it wrong. Look, if the entire FB team wants to kneel then do it off the field and don't disrespect the country (flag, anthem, etc.) while doing it; in other words do it on your own time and not while you're on the clock.
I have spent the last 38+ yrs in DIRECT defense of this country so all of them could do "their thing" but here's the rub; with protesting comes counter protesting. Most of the "protesters" have no clear, defined idea what they're protesting other than "hey look at me" and that's fine too just don't get all self-righteous about it like you're defending the western hemisphere.

Thanks and trust me no one on this board does more "you're fricking kidding me" comments during the games than me but Jack Daniels will get me through another season

How about we nip this protest thing on this board right now. Clearly we differ greatly and I'd rather this not turn into CardsTalk.

All I really require is to be slightly average and when the stars align, to be really, really good which is what we have been for the most part. Getting blown out every SEC game is not acceptable. I don't care who the coach is, if we go back to the Bob Stull days of 2 wins a year against crappy opponents, that is a serious problem.

I agree with all of this

Closer to turning it into Mizzou talk. Which one of you is going to play the role of Scotch?

I'd rather play oldlarry than Scotch.
Let's just hope we avoid Sephacs and the Nubbers fan that runs amok over there.

I want this year to show improvement over last year.
Nope, got worse. Git gone, BO.
