You can look up Morrison’s snap counts if you like.

I get what 808 is trying to say, and Im not sure hes trying to be as negative as it sounds. College football players show little to-no loyalty(and so do some schools and coaches too). A commitment means very little nowadays.

Actually, this is wholly inaccurate.

The VAST majority of commitments stick. The ones who don’t get the most attention of course, but it’s not true that a commitment means “very little”. It means you are the OVERWHELMING favorite to sign the player. I can’t find the article now, but someone researched this recently and the number was over 90% of commitments sign with the team they originally committed to and it didn’t even remove non qualifiers from the equation so the number, in practice, is actually higher.

Mizzou had 5 decommits for the 2019 class.
We had 22 who committed. So for 2019, our retention was 81%. The average grade of our decommits was 87. That’s higher than the class average.

For 2020, we already have 4 decommits. The average of their grade is an 87. We have 13 commits. Too soon to say what retention will be.

For 2018, we had 4 decommits (5 but Parker signed after recommitting). The average grade was an 87 (higher than the class average). We had 26 commits. So the retention was 86%.

For 2017, we had 6 decommits. We had 25 commits. That’s an 80% conversion rate. The average grade of 83. That’s about the average of the ending class.

So, for Missouri, we’ve performed well below the national average for retaining commits the last few years.

Glad you pointed that out.

I don’t believe that number. Seems too high with all the coaches that complain about recommitments.

Who are the four decommits? Wren, Doyle and who?

So, even using your math you laid out you would certainly agree that 80+ percent would make you the HEAVY favorite to sign a committed player correct?

It would make sense that the further down the recruiting pecking order you get that there would be more decommits

80% is certainly above 50%.
Edwards and Kardell (who I’ve never heard of) out of Lees Summit West.

Correct. The number is 3. Not 4.

I guess we can go ahead and count this kid as a decommit since the board has proclaimed it so

theres dozens of articles written in the last 2-3 years about the alarming rate of what we're talking about. Im finding few articles on this topic from beyond 3 years ago. Why? Because this is becoming a common trend recently. You just dont see it.

ya, you're not getting what we're saying. Im happy and optimistic about this new recruit. Others are worried because 4* havent been kind to mizzou recently. But what we all have in common is the fear because of recent trend. Thats being ignorant if you think no one here wants the kid.

I’m dumb, but you are the one that can’t add up decommits correctly.

You know damn well that Kardell was never a commitment and you are also using non qualifiers (and guys that got dropped) to come up with your numbers.

Not dumb I guess, just purposefully disingenuous

You wouldn’t agree that a 80-90% retention rate would make you the OVERWHELMING favorite to sign a committed player???

How?

He was listed as a decommit on 247. I went with what they said. I don’t keep a chart or anything.

Here would be the actual number of decommitments

2020- 3 N/A

2019- 2 92% retention

2018- 2 93% retention

2017- 3 89% retention

My argument, and it hasn't been stated yet, is what our retention rate for 4*'s is. Thats why im happy but have learned not to get too excited. I havent looked it up, but Im sure that is much close to 50%

Heres another side to this, our retention rate should be thrown out because a high % of these kids who stick are 2* and 3*. For a lot of those kids, we're the best offer they got, so of course they didnt jump.
