I'm pretty sure in 2012 Auburn had some half empty stadiums.

Scherer was a returning starter, he also only played half the season. Burkett, Garrett and Hall were the replacements for Brothers.

Harold was the replacement for Brady.

Both were major downgrades.

I thought Scherer moved into Brother's position and he was replaced by Garrett. But yea the subtraction is the same.

That DLine and Secondary was still good enough not to give up 60+ to UT with coaching

Scherer moved to WLB before homecoming dropping Burkett to #2. Garrett took over at MLB but was replaced by Beisel who was better at making the drop in the 4-3.

That’s the day that Shipp had an altercation with a player.

Also by that game TBJ, Scherer and Newsome were all injured. So talente was even downgraded more. Also coaching talent had decreased.

What happened the day we gave up 40 to Kentucky?
Or 43 to Mo St?
Or 51 to Middle Tennessee?

Middle Tennessee is the game that both Scherer and TBJ got their ACL injuries on the first possession. It’s also the last game that Cross called plays.

It’s good to know we have excuses for every game we get murdered in.

We fired Cross the week of Purdue.

It’s not an excuse for BO. Either he coaches better in the second half of the season, or he is fired.

It’s also true that the talent on defense is down significantly compared to the 2015 defense.

frick excuses, lame arse shite like this is what holds this program back. ANY other SEC coach except for Vandy would have the whole fan base in an uproar. Instead we get apologist and people willing to accepting another season of this shite. If we get in a bowl he can stay, if not he needs to go.

Hard to say if it lacks talent or the coaching job has done a good job at taming the talent. Guess we could ask Charles Harris and TBJ.

It’s not that hard Harris and Brady were much better ends than Frazier and Harold.
Brothers and Scherer were better LBs than Hall and Garrett.

Against Kentucky some of the younger ends finally played. They had mixed results. If 1 of them steps up then Frazier will have a good second half of the season. The same thing happened to Harris in 2015. He wasn’t great that year until Brady broke through and started playing well.

Some here said the changes Barry made on defense, the read and react, would be a good thing in the long run. Those changes have been a failure so far. Barry has to own that. Do the changes bear fruit in year 3?

If we are looking for the next Dan Devine or Gary Pinkel (and we should be), I think you have to give a coach 3 years to prove it one way or another.

Some have seen enough to know that Barry won't make it already, but I'm not sure yet.

BO abandoned those changes after 7 games. He didn’t have the coaches that could teach that system.

Read and react is not that difficult to do, but with the players we have, not sure they are equipped between the ears well enough to get it. Good teams play read and react.

Yea lots of good college and NFL teams really that defense. Cross and Shipp didn’t do well in teaching that defense.

Georgia is successful this season with a read/react approach.

But we have a couple of studs experienced enough to pull it off (roquan smith and Jr reed).

The problem with college is rotating your young players and the young players not having experience for read/react.
