Travion Ford transferring and Macon.
That means the top 4 recruits from 21 are gone.
What will you do about it? Must be Bull Sh*t to have them and any others to be a part of this University because they want things their way or others were calling them to come to play for a championship next year or two?

I’m not sure about this year.
The Dline recruits were discussed a lot in the off-season since we brought in so many transfers. Rock-m podcast had an episode talking about possibly losing all these highly rated recruits that aren’t seeing playing time. Can’t blame Ford for leaving if he isn’t playing, but I figured he’d be in position to be in the 2-deep next year.

So drink's heralded recruiting has been a bust or was that a different class?
Dang, it is almost like identifying potential and knowing how to develop talent might be more important than recruiting stars for us.
I can't believe this news.

Macon transferring was a foregone conclusion. He could be a monster at a DII school.

The 2022(Luther, Horn)class was the first to receive NIL money. The 2021 class(everyone of our kids to hit the portal) and before know unless they can get some retroactively from their current schools, they can get a lot more somewhere else. Until this shakes out with so many not receiving NIL money, all of college football will have a lot in the portal.
Maybe with the low rated class we have right now for 2023, it frees up NIL money to spend in the portal.

Darius Jackson from the 21 class entered the portal today. That is 9 players from the 21 class and only 2 will be missed. Wingo is the one that will be missed the most.
The 2021 class was ranked 30th and 10th in the SEC.
Ford
Lovett
Macon
Perkins
Wingo
Gooch
Jackson
Langston
Reeves
Most SEC schools have about the same amount of turnover. The 2021 has been the worst for Mizzou, but some of these are to be expected(Macon). Butts or Harris will be next or both.
I would like to see us keep as many St Louis recruits as possible. Right now we have 4 recruits transferring/transferred.

Devin Nicholson is in the portal. Not a big surprise. He was a starter in 2020 and 2021, but this year he was behind Bailey and Hopper.

21 class are only RS fresh this year, right?
kind of hard to assess whether they will be missed, as these guys would have been filling out the 2-deep starting either next season or the next after that.
I get that the portal means we probably replace them with comparable age players, but the normal development of a class is gone.

Lovett is out for the bowl game I assume right?

yes.
This is why I dont want kU, we'll have so many people out. We wont have our best offensive and defensive players.

We have WRs to fill the Lovett position. Our only real potential problem is Hopper at LB. He's an NFL talent. I'm assuming he won't risk injury for a low tier bowl, but he hasn't announced yet. Other than that, we should be fine regardless who we play.

Down Lovett, hopper, williams, Manuel and McGuire. Anyone Acting like that’s not a big deal is odd.

I agree. Development is key to what will help the team to be competitive every year. It is what helped Pinkel be successful and what made non-Blue Blood schools successful.
Most of the 2021 players that transferred/transferring would have left even if there wasn’t a transfer portal. Wingo followed Steeples, Macon wasn’t going to play, and Lovett wants to be a #1 receiver and that’s not going to happen at Mizzou.
Reeves and Ford are the only players I think that Blake could have developed into starters or 2 deep.
I would liked to see what Blake could have developed Reeves into. He is 6’1” to 6’2” 200lb CB. I think Blake could have developed him into good safety or star.
Ford will probably develop into a good DE. He is replaceable with new recruits or from the portal.
Jackson and Sistrunk both have been suspended. Perkins was a JuCo transfer that transferred to Florida before he got on campus. Gooch was medically disqualified. Langston was a PWO JuCo transfer that wasn’t good enough to play at the P5 level.

Do we know this or are we just assuming this? Honest question.

I think Lovett is all NIL. Somebody hooked him with a deal.

Not true according to most fans that Cook, and some of the other players are in need to get more reps for next season.
