Have several friends, including myself, who chose not to go to homecoming this season (6+ Our spouses and kids) because of the taste last fall left for us and honestly how many have been and are still being coddled on campus. We are the typical Mizzou fanbase demographic, middle/upper middle class fans who have chosen not to attend games with out discretionary monies. Yes the team stinks, but if we were undefeated we still wouldn't have gone. There is no doubt there are 1000s of more like us in the state. If MU take a stand University if Chicago style and says no to liberal totalitarianism then we will be back in abundance.

Realistically I'll be back in a few years regardless, but my hope is that the shock in attendance will cause our policy makers and enforcers to grow a backbone. Butts and wallets are the only thing that will make administrators examine their procedures because a lack of those mean a lack of future employment.

Thank frick you whining losers weren't around in the 60s or Mizzou would have ceased to exist.

I've never seen a team hang 49 on us at home. Even 2012 Alabama who won the natty that year didn't pull that off

Bama could have scored 90. Saban called the dogs off bc he's friends with GP.

Not to mention it was HOMECOMING. And 52,000 people showed up for the game. That's less than we used to draw for early season cupcakes.

I noticed while looking up the 1993 beatdown of Mizzou by A&M referenced above, they only drew 52k for that game in a stadium that sat (at the time) 70k. A&M only reached close to capacity twice for a team that went 10-2 and that second loss didn't happen until the Cotton Bowl.

It's interesting how expectations have changed.

Weve become so much more of a sports culture since 1993. I just read about a mom who cashed out her 401k and did a second mortgage to pay 70k a year for her son to attend IMG so he can hopefully earn a football scholarship.

It didnt occur to her to use some of that money to just pay for college directly and forget IMG.
