Gabe D. seems pretty adamant that his best sources are saying it was indeed Yost's call. I know some dont want to believe that but when GabeD. gets that adamant about an issue and his sources I tend to believe him simply because he is normally VERY reserved.
Yeah, Gabe doesn't get things THAT wrong.
Dave Matter is reporting (per Moe) that Yost turned in his letter of resignation last week and Pinkel told him to reconsider it for a week before he'd accept it.
Yost is 42, he'll be an OC at a very good program within 4 years.

MUBobby said the assistants would be forced out. This was entirely Yost's decision. Therefore I wouldnt expect anything. Could happem, but not because Bobby was correct.
C'mon, they let him save face.

Mauk's dad for OC. End of story.

No more need to waste roster spots on punters or kickers.

Pinkel tried to talk him out of it for a week.

Here's another potential OC name. Mike Groh. Mike is the son of Al Groh, and played QB at Virginia. He coached there for several years, and was OC at Virginia, so he has that experience. Right now, he's the wide receivers coach AND recruiting coordinator for Alabama.
He's 41, so still a pretty young guy, and ready to be an OC for an SEC school. He's worked for Nick Saban twice, which tells you he's intense and a perfectionist. He has recruiting ties all over the south, and his emphasis is in Texas, which is a fit for us as well.
I'm not sure a lot of people would think of him, but he could fill a lot of needs and be the sparkplug we need. What do y'all think?

Groh is solid. I just think our first look needs to be to the best guarantee we can get though. I mean if we just keep the same type of defense we had this year, but add Chaney can you imagine how many games we could have won this year?
I know Sheldon was a big reason for that, but you bring in those impact JUCO DTs, and get other big defensive recruits I think we would be well on our way.

I like the idea of Chaney's offensive mind, just have no idea what kind of recruiter he is. And we HAVE to have a strong recruiter to replace Yost.

His pedigree looks great, it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Like the idea of a guy like Groh.
We will see how open Pinkel is to a national search.

Like I said, according to Gabe early indications are an outside hire. No guarantee but that is what it seems to be leaning towards.

Groh is making $285ish in Bama. He could get a nice bump and an OC title at an SEC school. I think he'd at least listen (not really knowing anything about him).

We're going to find out pretty quick if the GP and the AD are willing to make that extra commitment that they asked of everybody, including the fans. I would suggest if he fills the OC spot from within, it was all lip service. If he's willing to look outside and the AD is willing to pay to bring in quality, then I'll believe them and they'll continue to have my support. If it's lip service, well then don't expect anything less from the fans.

Tongue in cheek but the mention of Brunell made me think of another form NFL QB, Gus Frerotte, coach at John Burroughs and get Elliott to stay home.

May not be well known nationally, but Missouri loses a great coach with David Yost leaving program. He is an even better person than coach. -- Russell Lande (@RUSSLANDE)
Thought this was interesting from someone who I think is really good at what he does.
John Beckham says they're disappointed but there is no chance of DGB transferring. Also says it may take 3 coaches to replace everything that Yost does.

Given Frerotte called out Pinkel on STL radio, doubt that ever happens.
