Well according to Gabe DeArmond, EARLY INDICATIONS suggest that this will be an outside hire. No guarantees but that is what the word is now.

But what if Chaney can recruit the cool kids?

I hope they learned their lesson with Yost.

Yost would still be a valuable part of this program as the QB coach if he didn't move to OC.

I don't want to lose Hill too.. I hope they realize that just because you're a great positions coach and likable guy, that doesn't mean you're a great OC.

You don't hire a coach because of what the players want. You hire a coach who gives you the best chance to win. We're in the fricking SEC, we don't have time to OJT an OC.

He would not be my first choice but I think he very well could get the job. Position coaches have been promoted to OC/DC all the time in the SEC man. Its not something new.

1. Chaney
2. Franklin

Andy Hill as Dir of Recruiting, maybe assoc OC.

Another name I've not seen mentioned is Mangino. But he's a good OC.

mubobby said it would be more than one asst - who else would you like to see leave?

We don't have to make the incoming OC out head recruiter, do we?

You could promote Hill to lead recruiter and bring in an outside guy like Chaney to do OC. Yeah?

May not be PC, but it is true that appearance plays a big part in the perception people form of someone, at least at first blush.

Yost once said his crazy hair style was an advantage in his recruiting efforts. The kids remembered him and what school he represented.

MUBobby said the assistants would be forced out. This was entirely Yost's decision. Therefore I wouldnt expect anything. Could happem, but not because Bobby was correct.

My main gripe was with Yost. Lots of people bitched about Steckel, but I think he's ok, if he makes a few adjustments. A productive offense could really help the defense, by keeping them off the field for prolonged periods of time.

I like Chaney, Franklin failed hard at Auburn as an OC for a lot of the reasons folks hate Yost which I kind of find a little funny considering.

MUBobby is wrong as much as he is right. He is on Cult status though.

Doubt it. Whatever Pinkel said in a press release or to a reporter, I would imagine it was as a favor to Yost. I would guess this came from Pinkel, and given Pinkel's history, via Alden.

Gabe D. seems pretty adamant that his best sources are saying it was indeed Yost's call. I know some dont want to believe that but when GabeD. gets that adamant about an issue and his sources I tend to believe him simply because he is normally VERY reserved.

GP get this done by the end of Tuesday !!! We still have a chance to get some UT recruits if we do this. Not their top tier but some good 3 star recruits. Starting with the big OL from Colorado who was a UT verbal commitment.

I have no doubt whatsoever that this is how it's being presented - as all Yost's decision. There may only be 3 people who really know how it went down - Yost, Pinkel and Alden. Alden runs a very professional organization, and I would expect Yost to be treated with as much dignity and sensitivity as possible.

My guess is they were hoping he would get the UTEP job, and when that didn't happen, the resignation route was taken. Just my wild-arse guess though.

We are a cynical bunch, huh? Not saying there isn't a rational to support this. Too bad that is the way it has to be.

That's a good guess.

Matters saying the same thing. But no. Too many factors.

Alden is letting Pinkel run this how he wants but Yost had to go.
