My prediction, Drink hires his mentor Harsin as his OC next year. The 2 speak the same language, have history, and can work together. And I think it works great.

It's the whole Star Wars theme. Drink can pull out that light Saber on Harsins first day and do the Darth Vader voice "I'm the master now."

Meh.

Harsin isn't taking the OC job at Mizzou unless Drink has compromising photos of him with undergrads.

It's not like Harsin needs the money but he does need to rebuild his rep

Harsin should try to get the Colorado job, less expectations and he knows the area (sort of) since he used coach at Boise State.

I don't think he'd take a lesser job just yet.

I don't think Harsin would take the job either, but if he's looking for a quick way to rebuild his reputation, an argument could be made for being Mizzou's OC. Terrible offense this year, and with so much young talent it shouldn't be too hard to demonstrate immediate improvement which he could take credit for

I wasn't looking at it as a "need money" thing. He's banking 15 million, so no need for heartache. But it is a chance to team up with a friend who shares his same personal/religious values and shares the same offensive mind. Just a chance to decompress from Auburn. Also, he probably would be more comfortable out west, take a year or so and see how the Pac 12 shakes out after the USC, UCLA departure.

Gabe on PM addressed this question today...and I agree with him.

"Now that Harsin is available and is leaving Auburn with money bags; any chance Drink hires him as our OC? LOL... no, yeah, really.

Auburn's offense has been worse than Missouri's this year. That ain't the dude I'm wanting to come run the offense. Also, Harsin is getting paid a lot of money and can be a head coach somewhere next year. Not sure why he'd be interested in being an OC where he used to be the boss of his boss."

HARD no to Harsin...Auburn is a dumpster fire. Mizzou can do much, much better.

Harsin is a good recruiter. We should hire him today for something even if it’s a Asst of some kind. Hire him as a Asst director of recruiting or make up some title as long as it has a really low or no salary. Auburn is giving him a $15.5 payout.

He could steal some of Auburns players in the portal or high school kids he has been working on. It is a very bitter departure

Here’s a few that recently joined the portal. There are definitely more to come

4* DL Zykeivous Walker
Portal on 11/1
4* WR JJ Evans
Portal on 11/1
4* WR Za’Vian Capers
Portal on 11/1
4* Ath Tar'varish Dawson
Portal on 11/1
3* TE Landon King
Portal on 11/1
3* CB Armani Diamond
Portal on 11/1

Some of the 11/1 might be 10/26, but it was official on 11/1

We would be lucky to have him on our staff for a few months

Armani Diamond is a 4.4 guy with a pretty good upside. He may be a lower star in the portal, but could really be a solid CB with 3 years of eligibility.

Funny response from Harsin to Derek Mason. They were talking shite back and forth

quote:

During a disagreement, Derek Mason told Bryan Harsin, "I've been a head coach in this league longer than you have." Harsin replied, "Oh, you mean at Vanderbilt?"

It's not a matter of can Mizzou do better. It's a matter of who does Drink feel comfortable working with. And Harsin has a great offensive mind. The Auburn job aside, that situation was weird. I doubt Drink brings in someone who "starts over," a pairing with Harsin is more of a collaboration. Plus Horn and Harsin could be a good fit.

They described him as disinterested in recruiting. I honestly think after the powerbrokers tried to have him fired right after he got the job made him disenchanted with the position and he just started being contrary and difficult. The disfunction of the Auburn powerbrokers almost makes Texas look welcoming.

Not at Auburn.

Never has been. He is a laid-back kind of a HC. He realized that he had to hustle and recruit and go meet HS coaches and so forth right way. That is what Auburn and fans there have been upset about. I guess you learn a lesson about letting one person to make the hire and ignoring anyone to verify the pick. It was so messed up at Auburn. Now the administration is cleaning up the huge mess. I am glad Harsin wanted 5 million dollars a year to be the next Mizzou HC. AD only willing to give 4 million a year. so, he ended up picking an inexperience HC but a much better recruiter that knows the Southeastern area.

Smells like the makings of another Derek Dooley hire.
