Was productive as true freshman in 6 games. Albeit, it was for one of the only defenses in the nation that could say they were as bad as us, but still a solid player. Won't be eligible until 2018.

The only thing that worries me is how does this affect our chances of getting Trout, Perkins, and Thompson? If they come, they'll have tons of competition. TBJ, Utsey, Byers, Brandon, Young, Whiteside, and now Elliott are all going to be pushing for time on the interior DL. I understand that you can never have enough interior DL, but it would be a hard sell to these kids to pick a team coming off two losing seasons and be a rotational player/redshirt your first year as opposed to going to a blueblood.

Blue bloods have similar, but more highly rated depth at the position. The only difference is they have more highly touted depth.

Well Perkins is a DE, but the other two would face as stiff or stiffer competition at most other places.

I do think we are recruiting too many DTs though.

With all the DTs coming in, it would seem BO is moving toward a defense similar to what he ran at Memphis

He ran a 3-4 at Memphis because of a lack of line men, not the other way around. It will be multiple front but will base out of a 4-3.

Yea I get that's what BO has said about the defense. It's just that most schools with 2 LB caches run out of a 3 front a lot or mostly.

Also Mizzou is bringing in a lot of DTs to only play 2 at a time.

Brick Haley doesn't take the job if he is going to be coaching 5 and 0 tech while having the DEs taken from his room.

If you want to know what Texas fans think of him:

A mix of "he's a snowflake and sucks" and "he would have started and has talent".

All things considered I lean more towards the second because the urge to say frick him to a starter who takes a hike is pretty hard to turn down. He looks like a solid get for Mizzou and for Texas, who has had quite a few defensive problems, its another blow.

Guys Herman made it clear that Texas players loyal to Strong could hit the road.
