It is year 3 and Odom still hasn't figured out how to instill discipline or "fight" in his team. They roll over every time they get punched in the mouth.
The special teams are abysmal under Odom. Given our location, we have to be better and avoiding mistakes than everyone else. Odom has been unable to do this and if he had figured out either discipline or functional special teams, he wouldn't be on the hot seat and probably looking at a 10 win season.
I really don't see any improvement over the last 2 years. I see the same issues with slightly different schedules with the one caveat that the stupid mistakes did tend to go away during the 2nd half of last season.
And now they are back with full vengeance....not the sign of good coaching IMO.
I get your stance about wanting the job to be attractive to other coaches, but I think what you propose only makes the job more attractive for coaches looking to find a cushy job and sit on their laurels. If someone wants to win, they will fully understand firing someone for not winning. You want someone with the mentality that the previous coach is irrelevant because they are going to be better regardless. If you have a coach wondering if it is the right job because the last guy got fired after 3 years, then he probably isn't the right guy for the job.

Kansas? Illinois? and Kentucky? for 5 years? three years going 7-5? The list goes on. You tell me who will be a much better hire and can get the job done? No rolling the dice on some no name and end up like Kansas and Illinois. No way!

Ill take Neal Brown averaging 8-4 seasons, a couple of top 10 upsets, and the realization we may have a frustrating loss once in a while right about now.

I want Mike Leach, just for the press conferences.
