Meh. They're making Memphis sound worse than it is. It's STL Lite. Just hit the right places at the right time and it's cool.

Beale Street > Landing and probably safer if you don't stray for it.

Memphis BBQ > STL BBQ

Mud Island = Arch (I guess the Arch should get the nod, but neither really are my thing)

Germantown ? Ferguson

Just my opinions on Memphis. Didn't mean to make it sound like yours were wrong. Just differing. Coming from STL I see Memphis as much the same just smaller.

Nah

St. Louis is VASTLY underrated .

Been to Memphis a few times. I'll take Sugarfire, Bogarts, pappys and the Shaved Duck over anything in Memphis. Rendezvous has the best ribs though.

Hell yes! And no offense to Jesus, but Memphis BBQ is the best.

The rib tips at Tom's are unreal.

I dont know enough about that area. Its more of a tourist/main street type of place.

People will wave and hold the door open for you. Not sure if your use to that.

Also, that is where clash of the ozarks was filmed.

Quaint but cool little town. Imagine Eureka Springs if it had a population of about 700.

Visit Bob & Sandy's Beach Club BBQ for ribs and pulled pork:

Same here.

Portageville Class of '74. Born in Memphis. Old flat land boy. Have lived in StL area since '82 after living in Cape.

I'll be at Rendezvous on Friday night. Memphis bbq > StL bbq. But StL is getting better. Memphis bbq is rub and/or vinegar based with concentration on the meat. StL is all about sugar and the sauce.

You are only 60 ish miles from Jonesboro at that point. Might as well just finish it out. Hardy during the summer is on the spring river so you have lots of folks floating the river and drinking and what not. I don't know that I have ever stopped there in the fall for anything. It does or at least did have a quaint LITTLE downtown. The only place I have ever eaten there is at the McDonald's to get something on my stomach on way back to Jonesboro after floating, camping, and drinking.

Living in Memphis for the past 15 years I can guarantee you that Germantown is no Ferguson. LOL
Frasyer is Ferguson.

Downtown has great restaurants and the music is second to none. Born and raised in St. Louis I can tell you that STL is no where close to Memphis in the music scene.

Memphis BBQ is pork. Missouri is beef. Some BBQ places in Memphis do a brisket but pork is their specialty. Central BBQ off of South Main street by the Loraine Motel, The Pig on Beale street, Rum Boogie on Beale Street are a few that you must go to if you are staying downtown

Ha, my mom was born and raised in portageville, you no doubt know my family. Portageville isn't exactly a huge metropolis.

Jim Neeley's interstate BBQ is pretty dang good. Has anyone mentioned Central? For the high brow crowd Germantown Commissary is good to. For the low brow crowd hard to beat Payne's.

It is my favorite but the last 3 times I have been there the BBQ has been cold. I have decided to give Interstate a break for a while and hit Central, Commissary, and Jim and Nicks.

Bet I do too. With all the inter-breeding, we're probably blood. HA!

Do you know the definition of a virgin in SEMO...and NE-AR & TN? A 8-y/o that can out-run her brother.
