Eric Blumberg ?@BlumbergOTB #Mizzou DT Sheldon Richardson announces he will enter the 2013 NFL Draft.
No surprise there.
EDIT: Good luck young man. I hope you get what you are looking for and that you represent Mizzou in a favorable light.

Expected this. Now the need to get some DTs is beyond critical.

This a huge point that got kind of brushed over towards the end of the season with the Pinkel/coaching staff angst.
We are in trouble inside on the D-line and this staff had better find some impact type of juco transfers or we are going to have all kinds of trouble next year.

I'm sure his professors are upset.

He was quite the student.

I hope he can stick around a few more weeks and help talk to Toby Johnson and Ben Bradley for us when they come in for their visit.

I just hope he reps Mizzou well. I'm a bit concerned that with his mouth he is going to MF the university after the season we just had. There's just no filter.

My roommate says he has been in class all week. I was really surprised by this

Its surprising, but I've been waiting to get a report like this.. I had a feeling he'd try and save face by finishing out the semester.
A shame things didn't go differently for him, he had the skill and personality to be a living legend for the rest of his life in this state. Now he'll just be that guy who was really good for a year that said 'old man football' and screwed his team by not accepting a punishment.

Must be a hot chick in that class. Gonna hit her up with the old "I just declared for the NFL draft" line, 60% of the time it works...everytime.

Just trying to help out the ole Mizzou APR? I'm sure he's kicking arse and taking names gradewise.

Good luck Sheldon. Be sure and save your money because life is a lot longer than those NFL paychecks will be flowing.

I ran into my fair share of burnt out old NFL alumni here at my old job. It's amazing how bad many of their financial situations are.
That being said, they were all getting paid a lot less then than they are now (even with inflation), and most of them have stories that I could never dream to experience. These guys have got to be living it up crazy to be that broke today.
Even the average 3 year NFL minimum salary guy today winds up leaving with 1.4 million. Sit on the practice squad for 3 years, show up on the sideline in a game or two and you can still leave with a few hundred grand.

Not saying he is a living legend, but I will never understand the extent to which people talk down on him. "Just be that guy"? Dude single-handedly saved us from about 2-10. Was it always smooth sailing? No. But we knew what we were getting. Dude could have went to any school in the country but stayed home. Its almost like people would have rathered he not go to Mizzou, but ill never get it. And if its about the Syracuse game, I understand being mad at him before the game but that if you cant beat Syr even without him then that entirely says something else.
