Am I the only one that would prefer to see Powell be the QB next year and not Kelly Bryant? I don't think we are in some perilous situation and I'd rather dance with the person we came with than someone who just showed up at the dance later.

I think we have more to gain by playing Powell 3 years instead of 2 but maybe I'm expecting too little for next year. What do you guys think?

Well, I've felt the same way. Why not go with the guy who's already with us and let him develop for the next couple of years?

The fact that they are courting Bryant says something. They obviously don't think Powell has elite QB talent.

Powell would probably be a one year starter.

If Bazelak develops like he should he will be the starter in 2020. With the new redshirt rule he will get snaps next year.

I’m not sure if Bazelak is a early enrollee, but if he is he might have a chance at competing for the starting spot next year.

two things:

1) It might also be a sign of what they view the backup situation. Having 1 QB only is not a great idea.
2) Good teams don't need elite QBs. Just look at Bama. How many times have they had an elite QB? This year might be the first. Go look at Peyton Manning and UT. They didn't win it all until he was gone and Tee Martin was good, but not elite.

I personally think chemistry is more important for success than having an elite QB.

I like Wilson better than Powell, but if the coaches are this heavy after Bryant than they clearly think he is better.

Now maybe if we don’t land Bryant then one of these guys will play better than expected, but I think we get Bryant

If Powell were to beat out Bryant he would be more than a 1 year starter. And I doubt that happens.

I’m hoping Hagans commits for 2020, he might be better than Bazelak

Mizzou has too many weapons next year to gamble on someone, imo.

Also nothing wrong in landing KB, and Powell beating him out.

Powell seems like a Berkstresser 2.0

Powell is probably better than Berkstresser. Berkstresser has better arm strength, Powell is just more accurate

Lol. Whut? Bama can win without an elite WB because they have elite players at most every other position on the field and have become WrU.

Mizzou needs a top notch collegiate QB to compete. That’s the way it will always be.

The only fault I see with Bazelak is the type of offense his high school team runs. That is why it is important for him to enroll early.

A big plus is the fact that Bazelak is a winner. His high school team has lost some of their top players and his team has rallied around him to make it to the Ohio State championship game Friday.

He also comes from a family that is very competitive. His siblings have a combined 5 State Championships.

It is important for a QB to be around a winning and competitive atmosphere.

Winning is also a plus for Powell who won 2 state championships at Fayetteville.

It will be good to have QB’s compete for the starting position.

It took Lock 3 or 4 years to figure it out.

You guys think Powell and his 10 snaps are ready for the big time?

Mizzou wins 5 or 6 games next year if Powell starts.

I like Wilson. Never seen him throw the ball but I like his scrambling ability

You have no idea what you’re talking about. Although, you were saying we’d only win 4 about a month ago so Insee you are going up on that.

I know it’s crazy, but we aren’t the only program in history that has had to replace a starting QB. It has happened before and it’s not always disastrous

I’d say 5 to 6 wins is a pretty realistic expectation for next year if we don’t get a grad transfer QB.

I’d say no one can really predict what it would be since we’ve never seen any of those guys play. You could be right of course, but you could also be wrong.

How many do you think we’ll win with Bryant?

Id agree. I wish we could have seen more of Powell this season

Just based on the schools pursuing him, I’d guess he would be worth a win or two. I wouldn’t expect to top 8 wins next year with or without him.
