I don't want to get ahead of mysel, but I'm feeling good about next year... I'm not really sure why or how but this press conference has me feeling a lot better

Pinkel asked if he'll make staff changes: "I look at everybody in our program ... If you can't fit into our program, I'll make a change."

#Mizzou trainer Rex Sharp on Pinkel radio show: tailback Henry Josey would have played this fall for some teams. No restrictions on him now

Sharp (MU trainer) says Henry Josey will be ready to play in 2013, implies he'll practice in the spring

Pinkel asked if quarterback job is open for competition: "There's no question about it."
quote:

Asked about QB job in 2013, Pinkel cited Brad Smith, as a redshirt freshman, beating out senior Kirk Farmer, returning starter, in 2002

Ashley Zavala ?@ZavalaA
Pinkel talks looking forward to O-line next year: Ole Miss transfer Mitch Hall, Taylor Chappell. Justin Britt will be back from injury.

Pinkel: That's my job-- to get us back to a bowl game. I'm gonna work my tail off to get it.

He cant win a game until next season, but I liked the TigerTalk tonight. That being said, he needs to win before next season. Top 20 recruiting class and a strong Spring Practice from players at QB, DT, Josey, Holes filled in the O-Line and an overall change in leadership. He needs to win now, by first hitting the Trail hard and getting us to Top 20.

I'm hoping this season was a learning experience for Pinkel and he can step forward and be the coach we need in the SEC, so far he's saying the right things.
Also, I'll be avoiding Tigerboard forever, that place sucks the life out of you.

Dark before it's light.
When it was 42-0 with bowl hopes gone, that has to be the bottom.
There is no way we have another year as bad as this one. DUI, Josey, Franklin, 0-line, no bowl, embarrassing losses, empty stadium vs Bama.

It is unlikely. It is far from impossible.

I like what he said, but I'm not sure I trust his instincts anymore.
Here's to hope.

Killz I totally agree, he just seemed lost and had no fire this season. Here's to hoping he gets the will to win back and can right the ship.
Another 5-7 season or worse and he will be run out of town

You know...I believe this is a good thing. Maybe he comes out strong next year and destroys teams. That would be good.
If not, then we'll have little competition for a superstar coach.
It's a smart move by Mizzou's AD.

Killz your opinions have been spot on lately. I guess we've all had a little time to digest this season and take a step back from the ledge. Next season I'm hoping for good things if we can just get a QB

Totally different.
My point was we can not possible have another year with so many misfortunes. DUI, weed arrest of star player, QB hurt, best athlete (Josey) hurt, most of the 0-line, storm during national broadcast leaving stadium empty, capped off with a beat down on espn to finish a bowl-less season.
My point was that all of those things should really never happen again in one year.

Your post appeals to my positive nature. I can't help it, just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in. Lets get to recruiting, break out the Pinkelcopter and do work!
However, GP needs to remember, the fanbase has spoken...

I am incredibly disappointed. I am disappointed because those words gave me a small glimmer of hope. I am now ready to be kicked squarely in the nuts and have all of that hope shattered. OPS Normal.

I hope you're right, but part of me is not nearly so optimistic.

Pinkel can go to hell. Until he actually wins something of relevance like the SEC east, he needs to be gone ASAP.
