Personal Preference IF The SEC Adds 2 More

Personally, I'd like to see Duke and North Carolina. The SEC doesn't need to add 2 more powerhouse football teams. The league is already loaded and will have 3 or more teams in the top 10 for the foreseeable future. Having said that, you don't want to add dog shite teams either. UNC has been respectable. Duke has been dog shite but, well no, they still are dog shite. Them and UK can hold hands then.
Adding those 2 teams would also completely change the landscape of men's basketball. Right now, the SEC is extremely weak, with Kentucky being down as of now. Right now, there's UF, MU and UK and that's about it. By adding those two teams, you have Duke, UNC, UK, UF and MU and would likely end the season with 3 teams in the top 10 in basketball as well as football.
Besides that, then someone could knock Vandy off their thrown with academics.

UNC and Either VA school. Cant decide between VT and UVA. Max SEC Network dollars for every SECteam.

Personal preference? UVA and NC.

VT and NC State. Expansion is about TV markets for football. Basketball means nothing in expansion and that is why when all this was going on KU never got a sniff from anyone. Football drives the bus. That is why VT makes sense and NC State gets the SEC into North Carolina. I can't see Duke/NC ever breaking up and you don't need them both.

Plus Duke & NC are in the same state. SEC won't add two teams from the same state.

If that were to go through, the SEC would be an absolute juggernaut.
Personally, I would want NC State. I've been to a game on a military day, it was enjoyable and the people are friendly enough.
As for the other expansion team, somewhere in the west maybe?

You're right. I could live with UNC and either UVA or VaTech.

UNC/Duke or UNC/UVA
NC State and Virginia Tech just reek of little brotherness.
ETA: if we're not following the "not adding states in which there's already a team" rule. I'd go Florida State and Clemson.

Except that VT is a better Football program at least in the last 10 yrs or so. I do see your point though.
If not worried about same state with a team I want FSU and VT.

UVA and NC
Both great universities. UVA is one of the top public institutions in the US.
Having said that, VTech and NC St are likely.

Taking a look at Virginia and Virginia Tech, not a huge difference in basketball but a much larger edge in football to Virginia Tech so give me them.
If the MU/kU rivalry can go by the wayside, so can Duke/UNC. Not a huge difference in football between UNC and NC State but a bigger edge in basketball to UNC so give me them.
Never been a huge fan of Florida State or Clemson, and the SEC is already in those states, so my preferences are UNC and Virginia Tech.

UNC brings outstanding basketball, decent football, strong academics and the North Carolina TV market - Raliegh/Durham, Charlotte, etc. UVA isn't necessarily outstanding in any sports, but they're solid, and bring strong tradition and academics plus that Virginia/DC TV market. Their TV draw is likely bigger than VT. That gets us 2 new states, huge TV markets, strong traditions and solid sports.
Having all the strongest football teams in the country in one conference only equals cannibalization. We're already miles ahead of everyone else, let's strengthen some other areas too.

I've seen Coach K and Michael Jordan give speeches here on base. North Carolinians are diehard when it comes to basketball but they also are cognizant when it comes to football, unlike other basketball schools like ku and UK.
Adding either NC schools would be a plus for me, I like this state. The coast is great and there's great BBQ and lovely people.

Is it mustard based sauce in NC too, or is that a South Cackalacky thing?

I think there's mustard based sauces in NC too, but more vinegar if I remember correctly from my KCBS lessons.

Semo, you know your BBQ
I love the Carolina style of BBQ, I imagine people would be turned off by the vinegar though.

I actually love the Carolina-style BBQ with the vinegar based sauces. It's awesome stuff.
I helped put a BBQ competition together once. It was a KCBS (Kansas City BBQ Society) sanctioned event. I didn't become a certified judge, but I guest-judged a couple of events and learned their system. It's extremely detailed and downright picky with how they judge on flavor, texture and presentation. Each entry is awarded points based on these categories and competing teams earn points. Enough points, and they qualify for the big American Royal competition - which is now sponsored by Sam's Club I think.
They also taught us about sauces, and the three primary sauce bases - vinegar, mustard and tomato. All BBQ sauces have at least one of these, sometimes two, for its base, then the rest is a mixture of spices, sugars, etc. Except for some weird sauce in Alabama that adds mayonnaise to vinegar and spices. Never tried that one, and not too sure about it.
