I think we might be heating this rivalry up.

Also, what a terrible decision by Odom.

Why? I would have rather seen him in the ACC or PAC-12

He's going to try to pick over all of our recruiting areas.

Well he is at a complete and total rebuild with no talent to start with, I hope he does what he did at Mizzou start with a 4-3 defense and experiment with the change to a 3-4, without enough linebackers, fire the guy that inherited the successful D-Line Zou,(Cross) install a two-five, and pretend he is at Memphis, all of that was one giant failure.

I just felt like Odom could do better, he should have targeted Texas. The Memphis HC position is closed so I get it why he did it.

The recruiting aspect sucks at first but if you've been following Drinkwitz, he's locking up everyone that originally committed except two I think.

Real question - is Pittman willing to bring on former Mizzou staff?

Great article on Odom at Arkie,

The quote tells it all,

"Odom will be tasked with fixing what was statistically the worst defense in school history this season. The Razorbacks allowed 36.8 points (124th in FBS) on 450.7 yards (111th in FBS) per game, with opponents torching them through the air - completing a UA-worst 66.6 percent of their passes (126th in FBS) - and on the ground - rushing for 221.5 yards per game (121st in FBS), the most against Arkansas since 1954."

LINK

I bet he has less talent on Arkie than Memphis.

At least Drink is an offensive side coach and Odom and Lovie Smith are D-side, so Drink should be able to win most recruiting wars on that side of the ball. But I hate the idea of Odom having established all these Texas and Missouri relationships talking kids into going an extra couple of hours down the road.

Blueprint, great comment,

"Real question - is Pittman willing to bring on former Mizzou staff?"

I bet the answer is yes, Davis is there already, I see Ofodile next, and maybe Hargreves.

As in Vernon or who?

I would take V. Hargraves back in a split second.

Thrilled to have Odom on staff, now we have to get us a great OC...

@Razorback Reverend

You guys are getting a great DC. Congrats for pulling it off. No sarcasm.

Thanks,

We were becoming a powerhouse during Petrino, power plate lifters during Bert, power went out during Chard...

With the right staff we should become competitive again. I would like nothing more than our façade of a rivalry to actually become one. This might help.

BTW, who is your Qback next year and will Bryant be able to get a decent draft pick in the nfl?

I don’t know about locking up? Wooten going to VT again this weekend for his second trip and announcing next Wed. Curry who never decommited and St. John are both going to Arkansas this weekend for a visit with Davis. Rumor is ILL more than likely has Doyle coming over A&M. Hester has gone quite all the sudden. Cooper Davis is gone. Elijah still hasn’t recommited and eeeeeveryone is after him. Jalen Logan Redding went up to Minnesota for a visit this week. We were strong on Marcus Henry but he is also going to visit Arky this weekend now with the other lineman. I don’t have a very good feeling at all right now but we will see how it all plays out. We need to hire an o line coach asap!

Depending on his knee, I'd think Connor Bazelak will first in camp next year.

Yup, agree with Drydock. Also, I think Connor was recruited by Drinkwitz when he was at App State.

Guys take another look at this,

"Odom will be tasked with fixing what was statistically the worst defense in school history this season. The Razorbacks allowed 36.8 points (124th in FBS) on 450.7 yards (111th in FBS) per game, with opponents torching them through the air - completing a UA-worst 66.6 percent of their passes (126th in FBS) - and on the ground - rushing for 221.5 yards per game (121st in FBS), the most against Arkansas since 1954."

Remember this is the SEC and Barry could not work miracles at Mizzou, this is a big task.

I think you are looking at this the wrong way. Barry has seen the talent on Arkansas defensive side first hand so he knows what they are working with. If he thinks he could turn it around, I think that he thinks he will be in contention for a new head coach opening in 2021.

agreed, but it isn't as ugly of a pig as most would think.

Chavis and his so called pitiful defense was part of the problem. 3rd and Chavis is real folks. So, although it isn't great, good, or even medium... it isn't complete dawg crap either.

I hope you are lucky enough to land Walters as your secondary coach. He is very gifted at making sure the best WR on the other team is matched up with his worst cover option with no deep help.
