Not super excited.

If it's an internal hire I think Mike Alden will tell Gary that if he doesn't win 8 games he need to "retire" after next season. My personal thoughts are that the Athletic Dept is starting to feel like moves need to be made because the big time boosters are NOT happy, just like the rest of us fans

Butch Jones is official to Tennessee so this may speed up the process of us getting an OC.

According to Gabe it's a three horse race between Chaney, Henson and hill. From what I've read if Chaney wants the job he will get it, otherwise it'll be an internal hire.

Last night I started a thread on the Coaching Change board asking Tennessee fans about Chaney. In summary - he's a great guy, and they like him better as a guy than as an OK. They wish him well wherever he goes. But his play calling was often unbelievable - long pass plays on 3rd and 1, not liking to run the ball. Sound familiar?

Also, he has no recruiting territory, and isn't considered a recruiter. This has made me less excited about him, and I'm not sure an internal hire is going to be what we need. Sigh.

All of "Chaney's" recruits were TN kids. I wondered if they gave him the kids who were already TN locks/leans and trusted him to babysit them to signing day.

I think Pinkel is bound and determined to prove that "what he does works." He's thumbing the eye of our fans and boosters at this point, IMO. He's becoming a bitter old man who likes young tail. It's not attractive.

I don't like his chances next year of fixing anything.

Kinda sounds like Yost's role, Qbs and southern Missouri

Is this just based on the prediction of Chaney or an internal hire? Or have you heard something else that gives you this opinion?

I don't have sources (almost never). I just think based on his psychology and the fact that it looks like he's gonna hire Hill or Henson.

He's not even trying to project bringing in an outside guy. He's not even putting on a show. I think it shows his stubbornness. He knows that our schedule lines up for 8ish wins next year with little luck. He's going to try to ride this thing out with no one controlling him. His hubris will be his undoing. It's likely what got him in trouble with his wife and it's going to cost him his job.

I'm about 75% sure It'll be Chaney. If not then Hill or Henson, hopefully Hill.

There was a random poster saying it would be Chaney and there was this...

quote:

Clay Travis @ClayTravisBGID 4h
Volquest.com's John Brice tells us best guess is Vol OC Jim Chaney will end up OC at Mizzou. Lots of calls already.

Chaney also reported to be interviewing at NcSt

To anyone interested - SunHog started an obnoxious thread about Pinkel's job being tougher. It's a bad troll, but he's not giving up, still insisting Arkansas is far greater that Missouri and that Bielema will recruit circles around us.

A few of us have slapped him around, but he keeps coming back for more if anyone is interested.

Meh. He's gone boring. We could use some new soldiers though. Stay calm, use facts.

I made the mistake of wandering to TB the other day and saw some discussion of the Tennessee QB coach Darin Hinshaw as well. Not as OC, but finding room for him on the staff. Apparently from Florida, played at UCF and strong ties with high school coaches there and the Tennessee poster gave his evaluation that he was a recruiting stud that should not be passed on. Anyone know if there's anything to this guy and whether or not there's any legs to us talking to him?

The word is he is going to kentucky as the QB coach. I have not seen anything official on that quite yet, but there may be something out there.

I'm going to vent, because I'm beyond frustrated and disgusted right now. WHY ARE WE SITTING AROUND WITH OUR THUMB UP OUR ARSE WHEN EVERY OTHER PROGRAM IS FILLING OUT THEIR STAFFS???

This makes us look weak, and that is something we can't afford. An internal hire will make us look stupid at this point. I'm just really disappointed at the moment.
