How would it not kill it? Mizzou would have no chance to compete.

The current rules and regulations are not enough. They need to start enforcing MORE limitations, not less.

What's to say it isn't happening already? If rules need to be added so be it. But even then should college athletes who make their own image not be able to even have a chance to see even a cent of the millions of dollars they generate?

I am not for or opposed players making money really but it is obviously a problem with the system in place right now.

Question - are walk-on players allowed to keep other scholarships? Such as academic, local civic groups, etc? If they're not, they should be. That's ridiculous

The way I student and it I believe they can keep scholarships. I just see no legal way of taking away their scholarships unless they are eventually offered by the team (which to me seems alright) T-bird might know more because his brother is currently a walk on.

I appreciate your views Semo its what makes discussion boards more interesting . I do love NCAA football even more than NFL however to say it does not create the most opportunities for student athletes to go pro is just not true either. I don't have the numbers with me right now but I would venture to say the NCAA (for football at least) puts more athletes in the NFL than any other system of amateur league in place right now

There has yet to be presented a logical argument for letting players make money off of their likeness. There will never be one as long as people want to see trophies won on the football fields.

Well, he was a walkon his freshman/sophomore years (he's a senior this fall), but I doubt much has changed.

Lot of fine print regarding non-athletic scholarships for athletes. Basically my brother had a couple of non-athletic schollys that put him over some cap the NCAA had. I'll have to talk to him again to get specifics (he's just now getting back in the country from some mission trip or something).

Good, I don't think I could handle the "what if" aTm threads if he wasn't able to play a couple important games.

What I don't get is if the suspension came from the NCAA or aTm ?

There could be more if it's just aTm

He had that six hour meeting with the NCAA a few days ago.

I'm guessing this is aTm's call based on feedback from that meeting.

Rovell says it's likely not done, but this is where they are right now. Not enough to prove he took money, but the trouble caused was worth something.

If you believe Rovell, of course.

I think they're trying to avoid a Cam redux. They're going with what they have right now, but will likely keep digging.

Depending on the story I hear it changes who has given the suspension......

Just based on the speed with which this has been handled, I'm guessing this isn't anything official from the NCAA. I expected this situation to take all season and potentially lead to some vacated wins if it turns out the rumors are true.
