Very nice. Looks like Drink finally got his long term answer

Great news, stability in the coaching staff ought to help recruiting and the program itself

Where you seeing this? Very good news if true.

It's super-secret. No other schools and HCs need to know about it.

I did check the point spread just now and was seeing it now that Kentucky is favor by 1 point. The same thing happened from the Missouri-South Carolina game. Looks like betters seem to know something and have been pretty good lately for the last two games.

Love to see the admiration being proactive.
Last time we had a consistent DC it was the Pinkle days. Hopefully he stays awhile (completely dependent on us paying him right)

Proactive admiration can lead to premature....

A short extension with raise is ok. He deserves a raise, because he is probably the lowest paid DC in the SEC. It’s a little early to be giving him more than a 2 years. He has only been here for 8 games
He is still using other coaches recruits and most of the D is experienced. We have 5 seniors, 2 juniors , 3 transfer juniors, and Rakestraw. Rakestraw was a true freshman starter in 2020, but had to sit out last year after he tore his ACL. Nicholson is a backup LB with 13 starts and he had 82 tackles in 2020.
Bakers defense looks really good, but a long extension after 8 games with a lot of defensive experience 2 years is about as far as he should get until he proves he can recruit and be successful with his own recruits and/or inexperienced players.

Are you talking about Matt Eberflus? He is now the Chicago Bears HC.

For some reason I thought Steckel was the DC longer but he was only the DC half as long as Eberflus.

Contract signed. Extended thru 2025. No money figures yet, but he was scheduled to make 700,000 next year on the current contract, suspect we're in the 1 million+ range.

Good. This is how you continue to build on recruiting and how we start getting back to where we were, when they commonly referred to us as 'D-Line'-Zou.

Great to hear it.
Hopefully he and Drink can crush the portal for another influx of talent after the year he’s put together.

for those counting the days until Drinkwitz is gone, get your noose and find a sturdy beam.
Indicates confidence from the AD in Drinkwitz. Probably no chance he is gone before end of next season.

I don’t think any rational person thought he’d be fired anytime before the end of the 2023 season.
If he gets to 6 wins this year, he’s probably safe through 2024. And should be.

Why would Drink be anywhere close to being fired? He's a missed field goal and a pick 6 away from being 6-2. Not to mention a false start away from 7-1. I think the vast majority don't see this as we need to subtract Drink, but more should he add an OC.

Observation: the 4 year cycle of the new coach hire.
Year 1 - lose big
Year 2 - lose close
Year 3 - win close
year 4 - win big
Now, most would say we are in year 3. True enough. But if, as it seems, many are coming to accept that 2020 may have been the most meaningless year in the history of College Football, one whose results cannot be extrapolated into the future in any meaningful way, then in many ways we are really only into year 2.
Fron that point of view, we are kinda where we should be, maybe even just a touch ahead of schedule. We've been losing close, now perhaps transitioning to winning close.
What does this mean? Perhaps not much. But for me personally, as I have always held, 2023 is the year where we should see the true direction of the program.
IMHO 2020 needs to be viewed in isolation. It fits nowhere, and accomplished nothing. Unless you are Alabama. But it does fit well with their other dubious titles.

Maybe some fans think Mizzou football program is a powerhouse! Meaning must be good like LSU did and keep it there. I can see Auburn getting frustrated and want result now and Harsin didn't do it because he didn't really understand how Auburn football program works. It is moving along nicely so far. I said in year 4 where players are pretty much set and ready and year 5 to compete for east division. Might be last year for division too at that time.

One hopes the offensive innovation is purely a matter of QB talent and once Horn is installed, we will get a better picture of Drinks O strategy. That said. Should still just hire an OC.
