Odom pissed Trout off:
He's mad at Odom, because there was a rumor that USC pulled Trout's offer and Trout tried to come to Mizzou and Odom had Ford tell him that Mizzou was all filled up. Trout said that never happened and that Odom wouldn't confirm that didn't happen to the media.(Young and the Restless)

I get bad vibes from Odom. He seems like the Ben Mcadoo type honestly

I'd like to know the context. Ben Fred is a dope. If that's what Odom said he should of just kept his mouth shut.

The rumor was proven to be exactly that when USC accepted Trout's LOI at 7:40 AM. Why bother asking the question when the situation that supposedly started the chain of events never happened? Bush league shite by a bum writer.

Are coaches even allowed to specifically talk about recruits that have just signed at another school?
Posted on 2/9/18 at 7:34 am to wubilli
A signed letter of intent formally ends the recruiting process and any discussion of that recruit by another coach could be construed as a continuation of recruiting and subject to investigation.
Like his answer or not it was a bullshite question that a decent reporter wouldn't have asked.

Like I said, I would not be at all surprised if he quoted him out of context.
If not though, he should have just said no comment

From the story it said that Odom didn't deny or confirm. I guess Trout is mad that Odom didn't set the story straight.
Trout told Ford that he wasn't interested in Mizzou, so we move on and enjoy the defensive tackles that we have. We will be ok. I really wanted Thompson, Perkins, Goodrich and Babbs the most.
Good luck to Trout here in Cali at USC. I like our defensive tackles enough that I can handle not getting him, anyhoots.
Mizzou vs USC in the national championship next season!

I almost started a thread yesterday to ask opinions about whether the PD is part of the problem with STL players. I did not like how they had 3 different stories about the same topic - MU did not sign anyone here. It is news, but 3 stories is simply selling to the haters.
BenFred? If true - I don't see why this Trout story is a story. Trout felt he was too good to sign on to MU for a long time. MU moved on. Then Trout realized he wasn't as good as he thought late, went back to MU and it was too late.
Only arrogance would argue this puts MU in a poor light. Don't like this attitude that MU is supposed to bend over backwards to cater to prospects from STL. A major program can't wait and wait like a lovesick teenager, even if STL folks think MU should for their area's prospects.
Feel like the PD has encouraged and supported this superiority arrogance and hate towards MU for a long time. Feel like it has gotten better since they hired Matter, Strauss passed on, and Bernie left, but the last few days have confirmed to me that some of that attitude is still there.
Guess they feel they have to sell to their STL fan base.

The entire stl media bashed odom’s class from what i can tell. Every junior who saw the replay video of thompson knocking the hat aside will be a little harder to get. Fwiw i don’t think thompson meant it with malice but the image will stick with future HS players.
Kids watch videos a lot more than they read the pd online.
None of it is helping the stl image of mizzou. At least lovie had no big signings from the area this year.

For a while yes....fortunately for us, kids have no memory skills today

Kids do read the online stuff. This is the era today where kids love to hear the accolades and praise. When there is negative talk towards them they seem to mostly say "I will show all the haters and the doubters"

Reason #382 why I wouldn't be a good Mizzou coach:
I'd significantly back off the time I spent kissing the asses of STL-area players, coaches, parents, and media.
frick 'em.
I'd spend the extra time on out-of-state kids.
When we're winning 8-9 games, then I'd go back and see if any STL-area kids wanted to join a winner.
And, naturally, if we don't win 8-9 games, I'll be fired and that may make the STL folks happy

Is you real name Barry Odom? Because that is basically what he did this year.
He showed the in state recruits that he wanted them, but when they didn’t reciprocate interest he just moved on and got some solid out of state prospects. He didn’t waste his time on in state recruits that he didn’t think he had a shot at getting.

We're Mizzou fans because of the school not because of the sports dynasty. Mizzou is fighting for respectability not National Championships. Of course star ratings matter. As a fan we want the better HS players to choose Mizzou. The argument that stars don't matter only applies when the kids with the stars choose other schools.
But we have bigger challenges. Which BO will show up in 2018? Can Lock run a different offense? Can Brick capitalize on his DL talent? I'm 100% against mediocrity, but lets take things 1 step at a time. How about we get through this season without having to debate whether to fire the HC. Seems like a good place to start.

I don’t think the offense will be much different.
It’s still going to be RPO heavy. The OL and RBs should make a good run game.
I do hope the passing game is more diverse. Use the middle of the field and more intermediate routes.

According to Dooley, Lock is going under center, and have actual progressions. Dooley says he is trying to get him ready for the NFL.

The super bowl probably had 10 under center snaps. Philadelphia ran mostly RPOs. The difference I see is the added dimensions in the passing games.
Mizzou receivers last season ran mostly 3 routes; screen, short hitch and deep.
