When he can step into throws, it's there. It's tough to step into throws when you're consistently running for your life. Lock was no different in the same offense. Mauk gives you a different dynamic. He's been the victim of a shite crap offensive scheme and his own demons yet he still seemed to have a winning record in this conference.
Josh will make the right call. He'll go with the one he thinks gives his scheme the best chance. If it's Lock, then it's Lock. Don't be suprised if it isn't. Who knows how much that craptastic offense held any of our QB's back.

They were 100% accurate. He's teammates did him a solid and let the coaches handle him but the message was he's a cancer to the team. He lost the locker room by his conduct. He has been living off his HS rep and Hasn't put in the work. He is a character off Blue Mountain State. The dude is a cancer.
Odom was around and knows, if what you say is true why the hell would Odom allow him to stay. By all intensive purposes the kid was gone to everyone on the outside looking in, cutting him loose brings no ill will to Odom. In this scenario though where Mauk is coming back an Odom is already sticking his neck out for him, why would he do that if Mauk was a cancer or detriment to the team?
Yet again: Odom was around for it all and knows how Mauk was received in the locker room, not the actions of a coach for a kid who was a cancer to us

Really? Take that TB shite out of here or we will make you an escape goat!!

Based on everything I was told by people in a position to know, he doesn't need to be part of our program, I don't like this decision. We need to be dumping problems and cleaning house, not granting multiple get out of jail free cards.

I respectfully disagree. Very poor mechanics which lead to off target throws in large windows had nothing to do with OL performance in 2014. His "winning record" was on the back of our running game and stingy defense against a SEC schedule that was pretty "light".

Agree with this.OL was good in 2013, but Mauk was very erratic then too.

So then why is he, how does it make sense that Odom would risk it in his first HCing job ever? As mentioned, he was around, he knows what went on, so how would it make any sense if he caused issues?
I just am not following it

May be concerned because the entirety of our QB's on scholarship could be Lock and Zanders otherwise.
Printz is gone.
Berk is gone.
GP didn't recruit one to come in next year.
I could be forgetting someone but Mauk would be only the 3rd QB on scholarship at this point.

Has it even been confirmed by Odom or the university?
Pat Ivey said he was coming back too shortly before cleaning out his desk.

When the season starts next year and Mauk is listed on the depth chart is when I will believe is back.

There is more to it than that. The kid is bad news. We don't want him back on the team.

I can't believe in an off-season of purge they would allow El Chapo back to possibly frick it up again.
El Chapo? The kid had a fun drunken scooter ride, smoked weed, and got into a VERBAL argument at a bar.
If he were any other student on campus, those are normal days in the life. Sure, he's not normal, but don't act like the kid beat a woman or anything like that.
I'd be very pleased if Maty came back to show people that he won't be defined by last season.

Hey that's cool. Not that big a deal. Situation is gonna run it's course regardless. We'll sit back and see what transpires.

Sounds like alot of you wish ill upon Mauk, for whatever reason.
If you want to wish him the best, perhaps don't use rumors and hearsay as a basis for your opinion on him.
If you just want Lock to be QB, just say so. But Mauk is a Missouri Tiger, and it is pretty shitty of fans to not support him and throw him under the bus.
Remember how "Mauk was so terrible", until Lock came and the offense became terrible. Mauk has really gotten the short end of the stick multiple times. He was a great backup as a RS FR, waiting for his time, not making a fuss, and being a good teammate.
Lets be supportive fans.

This is where the greater good theory comes in. It's for the greater good that Mauk leaves the program. He needs to be checked into rehab. His former teammates are even saying he has a Coke problem. If you think that the offense got worse when Lock took over, then you don't understand football. The offense was ball all year.

So you're saying he was kicked off the team for half the year because he got into a verbal altercation at a bar? Or was there really a serious issue there that we all have a pretty good idea of?

Not at all. I wish the best for the TEAM, and based on the things I have been told, I don't believe Mauk's return is in the best interest of the team as a whole.
I was a fan of Maty, like his swagger. But he is a loose cannon when it comes to the team. His actions put the entire team in a terrible spot this season. So forgive me for not welcoming him back with open arms just yet.

The second time, yes.
But for the original event, there is still plenty to question. Lets say it was only weed, something multiple players on the team have been caught with (and not berated on these message boards).
With no official word on what it was, and it could have been arguments with our inept offensive coaches for all we know, I prefer to give kids second chances and the benefit of the doubt.
But as for the offense. There is no denying that when it sucked the first 4 games, there was more blame placed upon Mauk than Lock got the entire rest of the season.
I think Lock will be the greatest QB Mizzou has ever had, but I think he needed a year to adjust to the college game, especially to connect with teammates. QB is a position where redshirts (or even enrolling early for that matter) can do wonders. I believe we should not have wasted a year of good eligibility from Lock on this garbage season. Even moreso now, after seeing how it played out. I would love for him to redshirt next year and get a full year of learning and adjusting to Heupel's system before he fully takes the reins as a RS SO.
I'm putting my faith in Barry Odom to do what is best for the Team, The University, and for Maty Mauk.

It wasn't "only weed." We all know it. You know it. For some reason you're pretending to not know things you know. That's cool.

There are things that I do truly know...but the rumors of slinging booger sugar are not one of them. Weed is a definite. The rest is just hearsay, which can get distorted really quickly.
In college, I heard that the DG's were all Coke heads and loved snow parties. Later I found out, that it was a single group of 3-4 who enjoyed the snow. But had I believed the rumors, a entire sorority house had lines every morning.
When my sources (mostly undergrad kids) hear rumors about drugs, they generally aren't true, because they actually know most of the "dealers"

He was caught with Coke in a bar. I believe the same bar he was later kicked out of. If it was just weed, he would have got a slap on the wrist.
