ISU averaged 442ypg with the fat man as OC. But the embattled coach needed to sacrifice someone so Mangino got the axe.

I'm sure he's not a KU apologist after how he got treated by them. His Air Raid, quick release offense sure would look good at Mizzou. Plus he would come cheap.

but Pinkel would hate working with him. Wouldn't you? he'd be a locker room killer.

The word was that Mangino and the head coach could not get along.

He couldn't recruit at ku. (I know it's ku.)

I vote NO Mangino.

Bring in the alligator armed fat man. He's a good coach and he's barely fatter than Bert.

Fair points guys but...given the state of the offense the last 2 years, it doesn't seem Pinkel "works" with his OC, he seems pretty hands off which would suit Mangino just fine.

As far as recruiting, Mangino can work with any level of talent (went from OU to KU). The Mizzou staff aren't great recruiters and haven't chased any available coach who was a great recruiter (Phillips, Shannon come to mind). So he would fit in with Pinkels plan of development over star ratings.

Reinforce the west press box de-louse the beaker off of him, and bring him in to coach the offense. He's the only thing I ever respected about kU. If he gets out of line in the locker room, turn Justin Smith loose on him. He can handle the big guys.

In all seriousness, he'd be good imho which gets you less than a cup of coffee.

Every fast food joint in Ames has draped their windows in black...and started laying off employees.

I can't imagine Mangino in Columbia mo.

1. Doesn't work well with others.
2. We wouldn't give him a towel boy of his very own.
3. Not nearly enough buffets.
4. In black & gold he'd look even more like an oversized bee.
5. Shortage of big & tall stores.

Other reasons? Ya'll are funnier than me...

They had Demontie Cross, who was a former player at Mizzou.

reasons for Mangino not coming?

1. Load limits on mid-MO bridges

2. No nearby ocean shores on which to beach himself.

3. Athletic Dep't clothing allowance not valid at Columbia Tent & Awning Co.

Mangino comes in to como for an interview, and asks on his way out, "how do I get back to 435?" HCGP says, "eat a salad"

Eta: I really think the man is a good coach

The good thing about him is that kU didn't like him because he was too hard on his players. The beakers had their best football teams in decades while he was there. They have steadily returned to shite since he left.

If he brings a negative attitude with him it isn't worth the risk. If he can fit in and crack the skulls that need to be cracked on offense, then I say, "Welcome Fat Man!".

Cannot believe some of you would want Mangino. Nothing to do with his weight but he was a real arse hat in LoRents and that would be used in recruiting against us for offensive players.

What I want is an effective OC. The thought of having a former ku coach makes me puke in my mouth a little, to be honest. He's probably not a good fit, and he's probably the piece of shite so many accuse him of being. Just grasping at straws I guess. It's hard to argue with the success he had at K-State, OU(briefly) and kU.

Oh, I don't want to see Mangino come to Mizzou. Not at all. He's not at all a personality fit with our program. And I will be very surprised if we are looking for a new OC. WDWWD.

I don't see Pinkel hiring a flashy name OC. Won't happen. The best we can hope for is adaptation and change.
