feel like a new conference or has things settled down a bit? By that, are you starting to figure out which teams you like beating most?
Have most gotten past feeling like Mizzou being an outsider in the SEC to being in the SEC in every sense of the word like every other SEC team?

We'll always be an outsider but that's ok. More accepted us with time. More accepted us with winning. I do feel at home and quite honestly, never once think about the Big 12 or kU unless the topic is brought up.

No real intense desire to beat any one team. It's whoever we're playing that week. The week of the UGA game, I would have told ya UGA. The week of the SC game, I would have told ya SC and so on.

I have said from the beginning when Mizzou joined that within ten (10) years, the Mizzou campus, athletic facilities, and Mizzou fans will be SEC in thought and deed as if you joined in 1933 when the conference formed.

I will say this. I think the feeling is reciprocal so it's safe to say but I am tired of playing A&M every year when we've been playing them for eons already and there are other SEC (LSU) that we haven't played yet.

I think Arkansas is going to become a big deal probably from Game One.

As to the OP... It still feels like a completely foreign land in basketball, dingy buildings in far flung outposts. The old Big 8 was the best, so everything else will pale for those old enough to remember. But SEC football is GREAT! Incredible intensity. Like a bowl game every week.

Even though we'll never fully assimilate culturally, being different can be our niche for fans and players. And call me crazy, but I believe Missouri has a chance to establish themselves as a national brand if they can string together a few winning seasons. Sort of akin to the Oregon of the SEC.

Welcome to the Mizzou board.

I suspect MU-Arky rivalry will take on a Cards-Cubs identity. Even though Cubs have been bad, when they're good again it will still be a friendly kind of hate. We are too close to each other, there is a family feel to it.

While rivalries with say USCe take on more of a Cards-Reds feel.

If LSU plays Mizzou in Columbia, schedule it in September. Freezing arse cold doesn't work well with me.

I don't care what SEC fans think of us...I feel at home. Then again we made the switch my freshman year of college so I only spent 1 year going to a "big 12" school. I intensely desire to beat arkansas, South Carolina, and ole miss in all sports. Mizzou is more culturally (as a whole) a fit with the SEC than the Big 10 as much as people try to say that.

I'm not sure if its more the move to the SEC or the steady success of the Pinkel years, but I'm a bigger CFB fan than I've ever been. The conference games in the SEC definitely seem to be a bigger deal than the games in the B12. I haven't enjoyed being a fan this much since I was a kid during the Winslow/Bradley/Wilder days.

And beating the Piggies is and will be the best.

Yep still feels new.....learning who & how to really hate. USC-mini at the top (or bottom depending on how you look at it) of the list.

Missouri has historically played the outsider role. We relish in it. We are most definitely our own kind of weird - neither northern or southern, neither east or west, but not necessarily midwestern either.

We are Missouri - a unique breed of weird that is different from everyone else, and it should stay that way.

Call us the outpost. Call us ruffians. Call us the frozen tundra. Whatever. It won't take long for SEC teams to realize after a few beatings in Columbia that we'll never be a pushover. We're here to compete.

- frick Kansas.

Living in Memphis I have not felt the "Intense Hate" from Arkansas fans yet. Once I do I know we are in the SEC !!!!!

It will feel like a new conference until we have played every team in the conference. Keep making it to the seccg, then it will feel like a home a lot quicker.

I think Mizzou has been accepted. It still does feel a little weird. You'll have to put up with the Big 12 crap forever though because it's just funny to some people. Kind of like calling Ole Miss fans klansmen.
