Some of the Auburn fans/posters are thinking about a trip for their game with KState in September. I was asked about specific BBQ places to hit in KC. What are your favorites, and which ones? I know some Arthur Bryant's are better than others, etc.

Thanks!!

Oklahoma Joe's is one of the best bbq spots. Bryant's is my favorite, Gates, Smokehouse, and HawgJaw Fritz are all great too.

Jack Stack for ribs but fancier/pricier

Bryant's may have the best burnt ends going.

Oklahoma Joes for everything. Gas station location can be a long wait

I agree with pretty much all that, though I'd remove hawg jaw fritz. It's definitely not worth going out of the way for, IMO. Same with Smokehouse, but they do have a location close to the airport.

I'd also add LC's to the list for brisket and burnt ends. Never had their ribs. All the Oklahoma Joes locations are excellent. Same with Jack Stack. If you go to Bryants only go to the original location in the ghetto. Bryants sauce is a little different, and a lot of people dont like it at first. Gates has excellent brisket and decent ribs.

Jack Stack is my favorite. I always went to Martin City location, but there is another somewhere Some sort of family squabble caused a rift, it was once called Smokestack.

Yeah Bryant's sauce is different, I'm not sure I'd recommend a person from Alabama try it.

I'd go with Oklahoma Joes, especially since they'll already be over in kansass. Smokehouse is alright if you're in the area though (I live near the airport).

Safe bet: burnt endz or the z-man at okie joes.

In all seriousness, we do appreciate all the responses. I know several people going to the game that have absolutely no clue what they'll do before/after the game. Some good grub locations should help immensely

Auburn will win by 2 TDs. At least. The Ole Man will have his thugs pumped up though.

And sorry, Nino. Hope lots of Auburn fans make the trip, and stop off in Columbia to watch us play Indiana!

Uh..there is plenty of pork served in KC, just that you can get a quality brisket/ends or even beef rib as well. If someone is coming and wants great Que EVERY time out you cannot lose with Oklahoma Joe's (Gas Station but all are good). Bryant's is great but not for everyone (Brooklyn only), Gates is hit and miss. I have had absolutely great BBQ at Gates and I have had crap there. I would also OK Jack Stack, get their beans (best ever).

I am a Gates loyalist over Bryant's although I like both. The Gates headquarters one downtown south of the Plaza is the best one to go to for full experience and location...I have always tended to wind up at the one north of I-70 across from Arrowhead though cuz its close to sports events and my friends' houses. Burnt ends at either Gates or Bryants. LC's is good too. Like Norm Stewart I refuse to spend a dime in kansas for anything so I never have and never will go to Oklahoma Joe's.

Jack Stack is awesome and a great way to vary up the experience of a multi-day KC trip, you're still eating BBQ but it gives a nice mix if you do one of the traditional joints one day and then the more upscale experience the next.

HawgJaw Fritz is ok, but Next Year's Winner right up the street is far and away better. They do St Louis style ribs that are great and have some awesome bacon wrapped meatballs. Jack Stack and Oklahoma Joes are both good too.

I completely agree with this and it is a damn shame too, because when they are on it there may be none better. I seem to have better luck with the one off Highway 40 (by the stadiums) than I have with the one on Main. I have had some terrible ribs from the one on Main.

BB's Lawnside BBQ is underrated. Great ribs, sides, and live music most nights.

Oklahoma Joe's pulled pork is the best.
