Do you know how much money Tom Herman will get offered to go to LSU. It will be ridiculous. This is why he wouldnt come to Mizzou, he knew LSU or Texas would be looking. If Texas tanks this year then both teams will be bidding.

WiBO took Heupal off the scrap heap and Heupal fixed our offense quickly, would Herman offer big bucks to do the same at LSU?

Would Herman leave if Houston was headed to the Big 12?

100k in the stands, great recruiting, and blue nlood traditon, even entering the big 12, cant compare, unless the Texas job opens up.

Herman has a contract with Houston right now that says if Houston moves to the Big 12, they will raise his salary to over 5 million.

This year it's likely USCw, texas and Notre Dame will all be looking, in addition to LSU. Those 3 programs may be more attractive than LSU because they offer arguably more "blue blood" prestige, and an easier path to the playoff. The other option is that, if Houston goes into the big 12, and can match the offers he'll get, that he stays there. The expectations are low, and the big 12 has the easiest path to the playoff in the country.

Now, he might go to LSU. But it's far from a sure thing, IMO.

I thought Louisanna is broke.

They can afford Miles' buyout and a high dollar hire?

The school/state doesn't pay coaches salary. That almost completely comes from donors.

He has always said Texas is his dream job, but this may be the year Strong gets things going. The big money LSU boosters wanted Miles out last year and mow have to back up their words. They seem to think they can get Jimbo Fisher and if not Herman.

If I was a coach looking to make that once in a lifetime step up to one of the very best jobs in college football LSU might raise some warning flags. Tough schedule every year and they just fired a national title winning coach who averaged ten wins a season.

You can't live on that accomplishment forever.

Herman isn't Leaving Houston especially if they move to the Big 12. If they don't, I see him going to Baylor. Texas isn't coming open. No way they are dumb enough to fire Strong bc of getting beat by cal.

LSU will go after Dabo, Jimbo and David Shaw. Herman is about 7th on the list of candidates.

A program like LSU takes from top flight programs, not the Houston's.

I think it's a guessing game across the board. I can see him going to LSU. I can also see him going to Notre Dame or USC first - it's an easier path to the playoff for him. The SEC is a gauntlet, especially in the west right now. I think everyone just accepts that until Saban retires, the SEC's path to the playoff goes through Tuscaloosa. Herman could do well at LSU - he could also do just as well, and have an arguably easier time of it, at some of the other openings that will likely exist at the end of this season. JMHO.

I am 'fairly' certain that the next LSU coach will be Jimbo Fisher. Coach Orgeron will move back to coaching the defensive line and also be named recruiting coordinator. The bulk of the defensive staff will be kept intact.
