You're welcome. We enjoy fans of other teams as long as they don't troll on this board.

I thought Louisanna is broke.

They can afford Miles' buyout and a high dollar hire?

This is a common misconception about LSU. The state and the university may be in "financial crisis", but that has ZERO to do with the athletic department. LSU's athletic department is among the top in revenue (I think we are around 7) and takes ZERO money from the university (it actually gives back 7.2 million a year to the university). It is completely self sustaining, one of the few in the country that can say that.

quote:

LSU’s main campus receives a guaranteed $7.2 million from its athletics program each year, according to the athletics funds transfer policy approved by the Board of Supervisors in 2012. In a news release, the athletic department said a surplus this year allowed for an additional $2.85 million to be given to the university.

quote:

LSU is one of only seven athletic departments in the country that relies solely on self-generated revenue and doesn't take student fees. The other schools are Texas, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Nebraska and Purdue.

That almost completely comes from donors.

buyouts and such come from our donors. I think the school pays just a few thousand of actual salary and the TAF covers the rest.

Anyone that thinks LA being broke has anything to do with how LSU athletics operates is uninformed. We were one of the few athletic programs for a very long time that was completely privately funded. Even schools like Bama use state tax dollars.

Sorry about your folks. I hope things are starting to get back to normal. I've wished there was something more I could do for people there.

I'm glad she got a hold of you! Was hoping I'd see you at the wedding. It was beautiful.

Texas wants it? Texas gets it.

He will be a Longhorn. Book it. Strong's $10 million buyout is pocket change. They're going to throw the kitchen sink at the guy.

I don't think it's a secret that he wants to be at Texas. Everything else being equal, he's at Texas next year.

I expect LSU to make another run at Jimbo. I'd be surprised if he takes it. Nothing against LSUb. FSU is a pretty good job with a much lower degree of difficulty.

Having Nick Saban and Bama in the conference makes it tough for other schools to find an appropriate course of action. You understand why they want to let Les go. But there's not 20 proven, better coaches out there. There's probably not 5 who are considered available.

Ed is gonna win a lot of games the rest of the season.

Hermann is going to UT.

Jimbo isn't leaving, and that'd be a dumb move by LSU anyways.

Prepare your mind now to accept Orgeron as the head coach. His yaw yaws and your fans are meant for each other. It's destiny.

Pete Carroll would be the coach they should go after. He has already won his superbowl.

Texas loses again...Herman is going to get his dream job. And Texas is going to pay BIG money to get it done. Maybe Strong can come to Mizzou as DC.
