I also wouldn't fully agree that we "came out flat" as that diminishes the play of missouri. As someone who obviously saw all 15 games we played, yes I'd agree things looked a little "off" but I don't think it's because we were sleep walking necesesarily. Missouri matched us early and we didn't really respond all that well to it then momentum takes over big time.

I disagree. It is the same thing UGA does this year. They are bored because they havent lost in years. UK was somewhat of a "challenge" game based on prognosticators and they whipped UK.

Last year @Mizzou UGA was not excited to be there. they had no intensity and they had no urgency. UGA probably would have lost if Kirby hadn't called the fake FG. But that call absolutely lit a fire under UGA and Mizzou could do absolutely nothing to stop UGA after that point.

Seemed pretty clear when UGA decided to play vs when they weren't all that interested.

How often is UGA bored? We’ve matched up with them several times and should honesty have at least 3 wins against them. Maybe 4.

Should have won last year. Should have won in 15/16.

I think you’re underselling. We either get blown out or scare the hell out of them.

I would say based on watching UGA a lot, they are very bored with Mizzou. We have only beat them one time, over a decade ago. They see us like vanderbilt. We just have more talent than Vandy so we are good enough to give them a game when they aren't focused.

The reason we dont get over the hump is because when they decide to play for real in the 2nd half vs us, there is nothing we can do about it. Great example was when Drew Lock walked into Athens and lit them up in the first half and we were tied 21-21. They decided to take it serious from that point on and crushed us.

Here are some other scores from our series:
2021@ - 43-6
2020 - 49-14
2019@ - 27-0
2018 - 43-29
2017@ - 53-28
2016 - 28-27
2015@ - 9-6 (last time it was really a fair fight and each team playing well)
2014 - 34-0
2013@ - 26-41 (WIN)
2012 - 41-20 (damn hard fought game)

As you can see, not much here for UGA to be scared of. They have won whenever they needed to.

Some clouded thinking here. 1st they needed that 2013 win as well. You are right though they are way more talented and since Pinkel left better coached. Here is wher I say you are clouded:

2015 game was not 2 teams playing well. It was shitastic Offense on both teams. That Mizzou D was good but not that good. That Mizzou team could not score.

2018 was frankly a shite show by the SEC officials, call me shocked. They got a scoop and score when the reciever was stopped for like 4-5 seconds and on a long pass dropped the ball before the endzone which was picked up and returned by Mizzou. Refs gave it to UGA.

Clouded thinking? Here is a great example of that.

That defense was elite that year. It was probably the best defense Pinkel ever had. It was a top 5 national defense depending on the metrics you use. UGA was top 10. The offenses were not elite but both offenses were capable. those defenses were just on fire that night.

Our bye week couldn’t have come at a better time. We are nowhere as deep as uga and we need everyone healthy and it appears Schrader and Rakestraw will be. I believe after fla, uga might be a bit beat up. I think we could win this but to say it would have to be close and no dumb mistakes like excessive penalties is an understatement. 24-23 mizzou

It all comes down to Bowers being out and getting pressure with the front 4-5. If Baker calls up a bunch of zero-blitz schemes in 3-and-whatever scenarios, Beck will hit Lovett, Thomas, maybe even Delp for quick hitters ... otherwise, their receiving core is very mediocre which is why they have struggled earlier in the year (Auburn, USC, FCS schools ...)

Their defense is porous in the secondary, particularly the middle. KY had dudes running wide open all over the field in the early going ... Leary just couldn't make the throws. Bubble screens and edge runs will give UGA a distinct advantage, so drop these Drink/Kirby ... instead stretch the field, decoy Burden to get Cooper, Wease, Norfleet one-on-one and zone read/RPOs to gaps can have success ...

Head says that UGA finds a way: 27-23 UGA

Heart says if Drink finds a pair and executes a solid game plan that doesn't let off the gas: 33 - 27 MIZ

UGA was 5-3 in the SEC that year and he got fired that year. The Mizzou offense was the worst I have seen since I started caring in 78. Here was the points scored that year:
34 vs SEMO high for the year
27 vs Arkansas St
9 vs UConn
13 vs Kentucky
24 vs USC
3 vs Florida
6 vs UGA
3 vs Vandy
13 vs Mississippi St
20 vs BYU
8 vs Tenner
3 vs Arky.

Yes the defense played extremely well that year but it was hardly “last time it was really a fair fight and each team playing well”. Neither team played well or did well in 2015. Facts don’t lie.

2015 was one of the worst offenses we've had in my lifetime of watching UGA (2019 being one of the others). Schottenheimer was the worst coordinator hire at the time that I'd seen us make, I don't know of "abysmal" is an accurate enough description. And don't think I'm taking anything away from Missouri's defense here, I'm just saying our offense was woefully bad. Startign withe the aformentioned Missouri game, we put up the folloiwng totals the rest of the regular season: 9, 3, 27, 13, 23 (in overtime against ga southern), 13. That is pathetic. The fact we won 10 games is more a testament to the quality of schedule we played and having a solid jeremy pruitt defnese.

That #2 ranking isn’t going to help us. Georgia going to feel disrespected.

I felt better about this game before the Florida game where GA finally looked locked in and played a complete game. I know the gators aren’t a great team, but damn uga looked good.

We might have the best offense they will have faced, and I think our D is coming around after a not so hot start to the year.

Hopefully it’s a good game, and we have a chance to pull out a win. We need to play our first complete game. We need to win on 3rd downs on both sides of the ball. We need to limit offensive penalties. Athens will be rockin, so we need to handle that crowd too.

I wouldn't say UGA is bored with Mizzou but they do get bored with noon games. Especially if it's at 11 on the road.

Chad Bailey out and TyRon Hopper questionable makes me nervous. We really need Hopper to play unless a backup is going to step up and have an amazing game out of nowhere
