Special teams drastically improved. DL looked good. Everything else was pretty much complete doodoo.
A&M had a game just like that with their win over ASU last week then got thumped by Kentucky. I wont be a bit surprised if MSU does the same to use next week.

Kamario will be the best WB we’ve faced by far and I fear for our secondary. I long form the days of Gaines, Ennis, and CAD over this terrible bunch. All size no brains and skill.

Im not panicking. This is what happened IMHO...Everyone knows MSU is a big game. First you want to hold back the offense, then keep defense basic. And before you know it the entire team is overlooking Troy. Meanwhile Troy is coming for blood. It happens all the time. Even happened to Saban.

I do agree with this. It's clear they overlooked Troy. They looked half asleep most of the game. Heat probably didn't help either.
But man, I've yet to see a Drink team play for 4 Quarters, or be sound in all phases at the same time. Maddening.

Cotton Bowl vs OSU was the best complete game by Drink.
Same year vs Tennessee with Blake Baker sprinting down the field following a pick 6.
Focus on the good ones, the rest will drive you crazy.

I was getting Kelly Bryant vs Vandy vibes watching last night's game ...
Was at that game in Nashville and the better team lost cause Bryant couldn't/wouldn't go through his progressions ...
Simmons is forcing balls to Lee and the footwork is becoming reminiscent of a left handed Bryant under pressure ...

The passing struggles were all on Simmons. Every offensive lineman had a pass blocking grade of 82 or higher and no pressures allowed. The only pressure allowed was by Roberts, who is getting too many reps IMO.
Simmons has zero faith in the TEs. He forced at least 4 throws to Lee last night when he had a TE open underneath to move the chains.
Goodie and Montgomery need to step it up.

Luper is going to have to challenge someone. I dont care who it is. That guy has to be reliable on 3rd down in pass pro. If he can offer a little in the pattern or running its a bonus. Edwards looked solid last night in pass pro. Give him the reps and see what happens.

I was worried about Bryant similarities with Simmons long windup. The coaches' inability to develop a dependable TE is showing. We don't have the horses to handle a QB refusing to even look at options in the progression because he does not like/trust them.

it happens to a lot of teams. I'm not sure about 'overlooking' Troy. it's such a hackneyed term. Mizzou was able to run the ball at the end when needed.
More than half of Troy passing yards came on two plays. Goose was only 18/32 passing.

"Overlooking" meaning players know when coaches aren't putting in new plays to attack a specific weakness, or making defensive adjustments to confuse the QB. They know coaches are holding back and saving the "real stuff" for MSU. And no matter how much the coaches try to convince players that every game is important, players start looking toward MSU.
