So the last 2 to maybe 3 games the front seven is not producing as many sacks or TFLs but I thought they said during the piggy game that the blitz rate has been shooting up.

If our blitz rate is going up and production is going down, I assume that is really bad, correct? At some point in the near future, is our defense going to get blasted for a 40pt+?

Anyone know what is up? UT is going to have a good enough OL to make life really difficult for our front 7 and given the current form that is really concerning.

If you thought they said it, then the next logical step would be to confirm it.

What did you find out ?

Mizzou is 2nd in overall defense in the SEC.

They are 2nd in turnover margin. 4th in scoring defense.'

Oklahoma leads the SEC in 3rd Down Defense at 28%. Mizzou is at 37% Not sure what that means then.

Mizzou is 5th in the SEC in 4th quarter points allowed.

I couldn’t find out much but these two things. first, we were almost the lowest blitz rate in the country up to a few games ago and two I can’t find blitz rate stats anywhere.

And you didn’t address anything in the post. Why is front seven havoc rate declining while blitz rate is increasing and how bad of a sign is that?

Not bad at all. Go look at the stats I provided.

I also heard we had lowest blitz rate. We did do more but didn’t seem that often. My opinion, we don’t blitz often so coverage in those situations is less experienced. If we don’t get home, increased probability of a big play. Again just an opinion, but seems like our game plans are very vanilla entering games where we feel our lines match up well. When that doesn’t work we are slow to adapt.

Batoon blitzed to fill the interior gaps and keep Jackson slipping through holes in the line. They made him try to win from the pocket.

Good plan as Jackson doesn’t do well when he gets sped up. Circling back to original post, good plan but didn’t seem to get home. Ark has made some line changes but still average at best line. Seemed like Jackson and Chambliss at Ole Miss had a lot of time in key situations.

All I know is Simmons is becoming a force. We got unbelievably lucky getting him.

How do you think Batoon handles Manning this week?

Texas has problems up front. I think the front 4 is going to get after it.
