Double digit regular season wins is going to require scoring more than 23 PPG in conference play. I think the rushing offense is going to be dynamic, but they have 4 teams on the schedule with front 7s that stand a chance of taking that away. Can Pribula beat a team from the pocket? Hard to say with 57 total passing attempts.

Other teams were discrediting Drinkwitz because he hasn't had any quarterback throwing for 300 yards per game. That is the main reason for not getting any of the top quarterbacks that were available in the transfer portal back then. Plus Drinkwitz is now using the transfer portal more than ever. Last season was not good due to not getting more players from the transfer portal as starters, backups, and rotational players. I believe he got just the right kind of players and a good enough of a quarterback that can get the job done that Cook couldn't get it done. We shall wait and see how this quarterback do this season. It should be an improvement over Cook based on getting key players from the portal. Plus Mizzou has an easy schedule compared to others.

10-2 minimum....need to take a step up and beat Bama.

And/or Texas A&M. Should be able to beat South Carolina.

Horn is the fly in the ointment IMO. If his heart was really into being SEC QB1, he had the arm talent to put up Drew Lock #s with the skill talent the last two years. But no matter how well you can spin it, it's not a part time to job.

There are things to like about Pribula's game. He brings a lot to the table in Zone Read and RPO. In the 2nd half vs Sconnie, he fit several nice throws into the condensed part of the field. If defenses don't have to worry about the deep outer 1/3s, the safeties start moving up to helpout vs run and sit on the seams. I hope Beau can make it happen.

It's a shame a coach who's been our best recruiter ever, and built his bones on offense. hasn't to date locked down an elite QB

Matt Zollers could be that elite QB

Last summer a few sites had Matt Zollers a top 30 recruit and had him ranked a top 5 QB with a 5* rating. After his ankle injury he slipped down the boards and 247 rated him the 9th ranked QB in the class. Last summer before his ankle injury Rivals had him in the top 5. Rivals has him ranked as the 19th QB in the class. On3 dropped him to 10th QB and 99th overall.

But, On3 is even higher on Zollers. He ranks No. 17 overall and No. 3 among quarterbacks in the 2025 On300.

In 12 games his junior year he threw for 2900 yards, 37 TD’s, 2 Interceptions, with a QBR of 133. He also had 65 carries for 420 yards and 7 TD’s. If he had stayed healthy he could have been a 5*. He is accurate with a fluid motion and a canon for an arm.

Tim Taggert was Zollers personal QB and he also has worked with 2026 Mizzou commit Gavin Sidwar.

I personally have no idea but I'll bet you'll see all the prognosticators put us at 6-6 or 7-5. We lost a QB, WR, OL and most of our road games are against teams we barely beat at home.

I think I just saw a line of 7.5 for us. Right on target.

The line has been 7.5 for months.

Good point regarding long ball. Offense was very stagnant last year in several games until we hit one or two deep routes.

I know nothing about the QBs except neither has been a full time starter. I expect this years team style, not record, to be similar to 2014. Solid defense and running game. Need one or both of those aspects to over achieve during early home stand and give qb a chance to develop.

One thing I've noticed about Pribula's tape is that he doesn't take long to decide to run. If he doesn't like where the first two reads are vs the coverage he takes off, which will be a bit of a change. Maybe his running gets the safeties eyes in the backfield and opens up the deep ball. Running and staying healthy vs SEC second level defenders is a big gamble.

Navy (and everyone) ... Drink is losing multiple recruiting battles this year.

Do you think it's fallout from Luther Burden falling out of the 1st round?

I can't think of any other factor that would have changed from the past two seasons to this year.

I don't follow recruiting much anymore but it's a long way to Flipmas season.

Not closing following either but seems like the roster is in an overall good place. I would think that might make others choose to go elsewhere for playing time?

Seems like we will be as good as QB1 takes us, at least for this year.

This is the number 1 negative to all "dual" threat QBs; when squeezed they run vs. extending the passing play.

After listening to interviews at SEC media days, a valuable lesson was learned with Nwaneri. Drink paid a pile of money to watch him get throttled by olinemen that rarely saw the field last year. As such, they using money to retain players have produced wins for the program and to get producers out of the portal. Unless the staff has no doubt that a HS recruit is going to come in an contribute immediately, there is a good chance they will walk away if the number$ don't make sense. Not saying they didn't want the players that chose other schools, but the staff isnt going to overpay for guys that are going to red shirt.

I agree with the portal/free agency route. Too much uncertainty with high school recruits. With that said, drink needs to do whatever it takes to sign instate recruits like a Drew Lock. Grew up following tigers, high ceiling. Money well spent if they truly want to be there.

Navy said the same thing I was thinking...they have gone the proven production model. If you can't get the freshmen talent level that Alabama, Georgia and Texas get, better bang for your buck in the portal and juco.
Seems like they are keeping their powder dry.

Fanduel has Missouri at 6.5 wins. That seems low. A dynamic running game with a good to great defense can win 8 maybe 9 games vs this schedule.

Pribula has to have all the throws in his bag to start talking 9+ IMO...or Horn's arm talent takes fall camp over and Marquis Johnson becomes a 1st team All SEC WR.

Admittedly I know very little about either QB. But Horn to Johnson has potential of lock to Moore. Deep throw down sideline when first option isn’t open.

Cook's legs opened up the passing game but we spent three seasons watching why his arm had him rated as a 3 star recruit. I give him a pass on the first year because of the labrum injury vs KState but the throws outside the #s, the hole shot, and deep seam were routinely misses the last two years. They won a lot of games without them but it put a ceiling on the offense. Hopefully Beau can stay healthy and take advantage of the mismatch Johnson will provide on the boundary. I'm optimistic about Manning too.

J’Mon Moore? Dude was slow. Maybe you mean Emmanuel Hall when healthy who blistered 22+ yards/reception his junior and senior year.

Johnson is fast and can fly.
