Please list at least one realistic replacement that will do a better job in the SEC that have the top teams with top defense. Offense is the main issue. Who will be able to fix that offense against top defense in the SEC? Someone who knows how to have a good offense against those SEC defense. Next is a good offense. That is not going to be easy. Then there are other schools that are either better or the same as Mizzou to compete for those top coaches.
Right now I am not for or against head coach change. Just want to get an idea who will get the job done that BO could not do it so far.
Not counting on coaches leave for better location in a year or two. BO did have some coaches leave and that is hard to keep the coaches from leaving to help build the program. Stability is the key.

I’m not positive that firing Odom is the right move yet. I would want to know what happened after Ole Miss.
here’s a few names though
Napier from Louisiana Lafayette
Clark from UAB
Fickell from Cincinnati
Fritz from Tulane but I don’t love his offenses
Rich Rod
Harsin from Boise State

None of our discussion matters. It’s fun to navel gaze. I won’t ask Sterk to make a hire for me because he doesn’t know my industry. I think he can handle it.

It doesn’t really matter. Anyone we get is going to be a complete roll of the dice. Might be better than BO, might be worse. Might be about the same.
If we do I want Lane Kiffin

Odom’s contract will make it easy to fire him, other coaches won’t agree to that type of contract. Lovie Smith survived at Illinois because his buyout was so big that they couldn’t fire him.

The opening sentence should have "Mizzou can get for $1.5 million a year or less" instead of will do a better job in the SEC that have the top teams with top defense.
We will NOT pay to get a top notch coach. Makes no difference if that person is from a P5 conference or a mid level conference.

Omphaloskepsis can take you to another dimension
I vote for Bill Parcells. He can get LT to be the defensive coordinator and LB coach.

Lane Kiffin. Big name will help with recruiting and he schemed pretty well at Bama he didnt just depend on their talent alone. Plus he wouldn't cost all the money in the world to get him.

I mean, Odom is getting $3.05m a year, the next coach would get at least that.

Napier
Comes from Clemson and Alabama, plays everyone tough even though he's at a small school.
I think we need to get him this year.

On second thought, let's give Tony D'Amato a call.

the replacement options don't matter when firing someone.
If someone can't get the job done, you fire them.
If the next hire doesn't get the job done, you fire them. Just because something might be difficult doesn't mean you avoid doing it if it is the right thing to do.

We are paying over $3mil for a basketball coach and I think pinkel made around $5mil. We will pay market money for a coach.

LSU's Dave Aranda
One of the OC's from Clemson
Mike Norvell
Somewhere below them is one Lane Kiffin.

Wait you want a coach that’s never been a HC? I thought that was some of the complaints about BO.

Short term coaches who would fix this:
Tedford he would fix stuff, but isnt a long term fix.
long term
sonny dykes
Cinccy head coach
and nearly 60% of coords and head coaches around the country, would be better than cement head.

Cunzo was a head coach at 2 major conference universities. He had experience. BO was the only choice for our dumpster fire and he got the raise and the extension after 2 good years. We probably do not make that mistake again. We will go cheap with an OC from a good football program or a mid major coach. Success at Minnesota and Iowa State show our people that it can be done with a program like ours.
