Derek Dooley Sucked

The defense sucked.
The secondary blew arse.
We gave up almost 200 yards to a freshman RB.
And we looked like idiots for 60% of the game.

THe team looked mentally unprepared. And what a gawd awful sequence to finish the game.

LOL. This team is going nowhere under Odom.

We’ve got two more SCar/UK games ahead of us next year.
He’ll figure it out or he won’t.

The year was an improvement and a few plays from being a 11-2 season. (Probably literally just a few dropped catches.) I know it feels bad. It is very disappointing... If Odom can get recruiting up to a competitive level with the rest of the league we may be sitting pretty well.
Next year will show Odom's mettle without the Lock and Beckner anchors for each side of the ball.

If he can’t recruit and coach up a secondary, he will never win. Better pray for his ownsake he does or the kush life style won’t be any fun.

637 yds of offense, 33 points and 32 minutes of possession should have won that game.
Walters room was a fricking mess.

Gundy made Walters look like a retard.

We’re also two plays from being 6-7. We are exactly what our record says. 8-5 with losses to South Carolina (who lost their bowl game 28-0 against Virginia) and Oklahoma State - a .500 Big 12 team.

If the team starts cold again next year . . .
Once again, start slow, finish strong, piss away the Bowl. Now it's a pattern.

If they have a losing record or .500 going into the UGA game... Fire Odom. Don’t even wait.
Once is learning on the job. Twice? Hard schedule. Thrice? Never gonna learn.

Yeah, but the improvement compared to last year was my main point. I know we had two close wins too. But last year was five losses that weren't close, four being a blowout. This year it was only two games that weren't close losses with only one a blowout.
ETA: I know it was only plus one on the record. But it seemed like a lot more competitive team. If Odom keeps progressing at this rate I believe we are a 10 win team yearly. But we'll have to see how his recruits work out of course. I do think next year will show if Odom is good or was carried by Lock and Beckner. Looking forward to it.

He’s not a systematic guy and his ego outpaces his performance. He may survive that. He may not.
He definitely took a big step forward this season. And then felt the need to remind us why it’s all still up in the air.

Where’s this ego stuff come from? Everyone I have talked to that works in the AD says there’s nothing to that.

This was a very strange game.. here are my quick takeaways:
• Our LB’s could NOT STOP STRETCH TO SAVE THEIR LIVES! Hall and Garrett are at their best when they can play free and go. Stretch forces LB’s to be patient and our guys got caught flat-footed and stuck on blocks. That’s not really a coaching thing as much as it was that they weren’t seeing the picture clearly.
• Paul Adams... WTF?!?! He’s been our most stable OL since he was a sophomore filling in for Taylor Chappell. But the last two games, he’s been a turnstile. He was dominated all game long. He threw one good block on the speed option TD, but he gets a D grade.
• Nobody’s going to say this, but if we have Albert O, Crockett, and Emanuel Hall healthy, I still think we win by 10. Or we at least get the 4th down conversion. I didn’t think the calls were THAT bad. Lock had a piss poor exchange and hesitated on the zone read, giving the LB time to scrape over the top and stop him short. He had a deer in the headlights look all play long. Never looked fully confident. This is where KB will help big-time!
• Our DB’s are rough... oh my God. How we get beat inside so many times is baffling. The Air Raid passing game is literally centered around attacking the MOF and we couldn’t defend the middle to save our lives.
• The lack of a MOF receiving threat (AO) forced us to result to a Heupel-style passing game in an attempt to beat OSU’s press-man. Florida gave us the exact same defense, and we destroyed them over the middle. We were forced into throwing low-percentage passes like outs, fades, etc. That is probably why Dooley didn’t want to pass. Not to mention we couldn’t pick up a blitz or stunt to save our lives.

His hires. He won’t hire a name person for coordinator. It shows. And he made sure to run off the current Dline coach at Alabama.

I want to like BO, I really do. But, there's always a but, a next badly called game, another inexcusable pratfall. He's an evil clown waiting to bust a pie in my face at the first sign of happiness.
DAMMIT!

I don’t want to read too much into this game. I’ll be over it by the time my head hits the pillow in 2019.
But it’s just exactly what we’ve come to expect from an Odom team.
