Wilks sure doesn't stick in a job very long (and he was out of coaching this year.) Whether that alone is good or bad, I don't know. But it doesn't inspire my confidence. His resume:

Johnson C. Smith (1995–1996)
Defensive coordinator
Savannah State (1997–1998)
Defensive coordinator
Savannah State (1999)
Head coach
Illinois State (2000)
Defensive backs coach
Appalachian State (2001)
Defensive backs coach
East Tennessee State (2002)
Defensive coordinator
Bowling Green (2003)
Defensive backs coach
Notre Dame (2004)
Defensive backs coach
Washington (2005)
Secondary coach
Chicago Bears (2006–2008)
Defensive backs coach
San Diego Chargers (2009–2011)
Defensive backs coach
Carolina Panthers (2012–2014)
Defensive backs coach
Carolina Panthers (2015–2016)
Assistant head coach & defensive backs coach
Carolina Panthers (2017)
Assistant head coach & defensive coordinator
Arizona Cardinals (2018)
Head coach
Cleveland Browns (2019)
Defensive coordinator
Out of coaching (2020)

No he doesn't.

This list sucks arse.

Symons.. a couple of years between Arkansas tech and west Georgia. 1 year at Memphis as a LB coach, then one year at Liberty as DC.

Wilks has been shown the door everywhere he's worked.

Gibbs.. Sad to say he would be my choice out of these three.

SERIOUSLY hope there are other names in contention.

I could get on board with Symons. He’s young and has upside.

He’s vastly improved the defense at Liberty since he’s been there.

He is trying to find what will work against good offense in general in the SEC.

1 year in Conference USA and he's ready for the SEC?

I understand MIZZOU is not a blueblood. But come on.

our final 3 is another in house, a unemployed guy who's been fired at every stop in the NFL, and a DC with one whole year of DC experience in conference USA?

This is the best we can do?

I'll say it again. I hope there are other names under consideration.

Drink only had 1 year in the sunbelt and he transitioned nicely to the SEC

Drink also worked with Gus Malzahn, Harsin, at Auburn NC ST and Boise St.

Symons has West Georgia and Arkie tech..

Symons has been at Liberty for two years. Improving the defense both chances to the point that they were really good this year, after being really bad the year before he took over.

He’s done well in this opportunity

Liberty had a top 10 defense this year nationally. They were 123 the year before he took over. Hard to argue with these results.

He could be the next big thing, and this is the only way we get that. He also seems like a good personality fit with Drink.

Granted.. I guess his signature win would be over a 5-6 VT team?..

Of the three, I guess Symons would be the better option.

Wilks is just a hell no

I need to remind myself, we are MIZZOU. Where we take the coaching scraps and leftovers... Hire one, and hope for the best.

I realize this is a stressful event for some here, but I advise going over to the coaching changes board and review the LSU DC search. You'll feel a lot better . . .

Lol, calm down man. Did you think we were getting Brett Venables or something?

Brick Haley isn’t coming back either so maybe the earlier rumors of Chris Kiffin have some legs.

Gotta be Kiffin. Haley finally being held accountable for poor pass rush. Kiffin is pass rush specialist.

We need a better pass rush. With these modern offenses, your only true defense is to get the QB off his spot. Whether it's Bazelak or Jones or whomever, you let him stand in his spot and you will get picked apart.

We tend to blame dbs for pass completions. But in reality, they don't stand a chance. With offenses using motion to isolate, OCs calling plays after they see the defensive alignment, and 6'4" WRs, unless your name is Surtain, you're screwed.

The best pass defender plays OLB or DE and gets to the QB.

Didn't Liberty give up a lot of offense in their bowl game?

They gave up 34 points to #12 ranked CCU team and won 37-34

NCAA stats have liberty as the 11th ranked defense of 2020

So...bro...not sure how to tell you this but we hired a HC from the sun belt with one year of experience. It makes much more sense for us to identify young talent and take chances to get them before we get priced out. We have to be smarter and take a few more risks than our SEC competitors.

Looks like its Wilks. What position does he specialize in coaching? DL?
