Cancel culture is a way for people who have very limited power to exert power. Being against it sounds an awful lot like declaring you don't want people outside the power structure to utilize the tools at their disposal.
I guess it depends on what your end game is. If you want small victories over individuals on a one-off basis I agree its an excellent tool. There is no question that if someone has a slight misstatement such as "all lives matter...every single one" because they are not woke enough to realize that it is considered a repudiation of the BLM movement you can most definitely get that person fired if they are in a visible enough position. But really, what have you accomplished by that? Those are "gotcha" moments that have a chilling effect on opening honest dialog. Real change is won by winning hearts and minds. I don't think you can get there by silencing those you seek to influence.
I apologize for taking this down a political path. This is very uncharacteristic of MY social media policy.
Bringing it back to football recruiting...that is a business. You better know your customer and how he thinks and feels if you want to be successful. I'm not saying you have to be a phony; but you need to pack your politics away if they are diametric to your recruit.
