I just hope that Melvin doesn't get the same blow back that the Elliott's got. I think he's handled things differently than the Elliott's so I'm hopeful not.

Judging by the reactions on this board I don't think he will.

It's it what it is. Part of Mizzou's big pitch was a game honoring his father's team that made it as far as any Mizzou team has ever been in the tournament. The Elite 8.

Then he committed to the school that won a championship less than two years ago.

fricking hell. College basketball is so damn broken. There is no way in hell you are going to convince me Kentucky/kU/Duke/UCLA/UNC/etc. run clean programs. No way they manage to sway all of the top talent every single year like this. /rant

I'm sick of the entire circus. All of this time, energy, and arse-kissing is just embarrassing.

Well, you know UNC and UCLA aren't clean - they've both been investigated by the NCAA in the past year or so! I very much doubt the others are either. It is what it is.

I can't blame the kid for choosing Kentucky. They're a top program. His experience there, however, will be drastically different than it would have been at Mizzou. He would have been a hero here. He'll be just one of the team there.

I'm guessing he's thinking it's a one/two and done situation. Experience probably doesn't mean much when the chicks are just coming out of the woodwork.

Might as well win a championship while you're waiting for the NBA. Basketball isn't football.

How much of this decision could have hinged on Haiths deal with the NCAA? Think that may have been a factor? Or the inability to make it deep into the national tourny?

Kids now don't have an allegence to anything. No following thier parents footsteps. No sense of working your way up. They want it all right now.

I just don't get a recruit that will go to a team that he may or may not get time on the court or field over a team where they more than likely would get more playing time than they could handle. Look at EE. I watch highlights of OSUe games and hear nothing or see nothing of EE. Had he went to Mizzou, he would be getting playtime now. At least thats my theory if he was as good as advertised. How about that 4 star O-lineman from Iowa. Wonder what he's thinking now being he decommited and chose Iowa State over Mizzou? I just don't get it.

Dude, you can say what you want about kids these days, but if I ever have a kid that's an elite athlete I wouldn't direct them to Mizzou over any school with a record of championships, and I'm as Mizzou as it gets.

ETA for the haters: without actually having a degree from Mizzou/being a sidewalker.

I hear you and don't disagree in most cases. Booker will start from day 1. The question will be if he isn't a one and done, will he play in year 2 if they bring in a different SG in year 2.

I don't think that had anything to do with it judging by the coach he just signed with.

Great point about EE.

frick you pal!

I don't have a degree from Mizzou but I have paid for two (w honors). Can you match that?

That's an stupid statement that hurts your school. Be smarter! Do you think there are enough Mizzou fans with degrees to fill up the stadium?

There are over 135k Mizzou alumni within Missouri alone. There should be enough.

Pretty sure he meant he was a sidewalker.

With that logic the Tigers should be filling up the stadium with ease. So what's the issue with all the degreed fans not supporting their school?

I think he was saying he is as much Mizzou as one can be without having actually graduated from there, giving deference to those who have.
