Santos averaged 7 as a freshman.
1 thing to like is his shooting percentage from outside. Over the last half of the season he shot over 40% from 3.

Mizzou's original top priority in the class Torrence Watson just de committed from OSU.

LINK

Staying closer to home was a factor. Of his original top 10 Mizzou was the closest P5 school.

That wont matter, "P5" is only for football.

Technically cu and butler are p5 schools, but Im sure they would have still been high on his list before their move.

In basketball the Big East is the 6th power conference.
The American has a chance with the addition of Wichita State. Although the bottom of that conference is not good. WSU, SMU, Cincinnati and Memphis definitely spend like major conference schools.

On Watson though
quote:

Torrence Watson, Ohio State’s first class of 2018 commitment, reopened his college recruitment over the weekend and backed off of his pledge to the Buckeyes. Where might the Rivals150 wing from St. Louis be leaning? Before Watson committed to Ohio State, he had narrowed his school list to a group of eight consisting of the Buckeyes, Creighton, Marquette, Michigan, Missouri, Vanderbilt, St. Louis and Kansas State.

Any of these programs could jump back into the mix and a handful of others will do the same. However, look for some of the top area programs to be the spot where he lands.

Many schools, after missing on Watson, invested more time with a few other top priority recruits. Creighton and Marquette have eached picked up a commitment since Watson’s original pledge to the Buckeyes, Vanderbilt has gained solid footing with a few other Rivals150 small forward prospects and Michigan has nailed down dates with a couple of their own top recruits.
That all brings us back to St. Louis, Kansas State and Missouri as the most likely landing spots for Watson. While the former two could make a hard push this fall, Missouri is probably the favorite. Cuonzo Martin has done a great job of becoming heavily involved with the top local prospects and was also vocal in stating that he wanted to create a pipeline between St. Louis and Columbia. Selling the idea of replacing likely one-and-done Michael Porter next year and the chance to become a program builder at Mizzou may be too difficult to decline.

Like I said, technically. Trust me when I tell you in basketball, Kids don't see the p5/major thing like football players do. you will be seen just as well at mid major as anywhere. That cant be said about football.

My guess is mizzou, they were believed to be right behind osu when he made his original decision.

Gordon was in Columbia this weekend hanging out with MPJ and others. He posted several times on Snapchat, including one that said "MIZ or SLU? ??"

Torrence Watson commits. He will have a shot at starting from day 1.

It will be interesting how this class finishes out.
Gordon was in como last weekend.
I hear Mizzou is in a good spot for Hellems.
If those 2 commit it's possible Pickett doesn't end up at Mizzou. Which probably isn't a bad thing as he would be better off in the MVC.

Great news.

So are you saying that after all the years of struggling to get STL kids, all 3 commits could potentially come from STL?

It's possible that 2 more STL recruits commit in this clas in Hellems an Gordon.
Next year McKinney and Liddell are top targets from STL.

Cuonzo is a beast.

Edit: what happened to Carteare Gordon? He's #57 in the 2018 class, but when he committed to SLU I could've sworn he was a 5* top 10 recruit.

Even though this kid only averaged 7.1 points a game last year I think he will be very good. He was a top 150 player coming out of high school and will also be in Mizzou's 2018 class.

Gordon mostly missed the AAU circuit. He switched teams 3 times at least.

On Santos, as a sophomore he was a top 50 recruit. He missed some time with injuries and wound up at UIC. He also has a good shot at starting.

Not sure who has had a bigger impact on recruiting for MIZ thus far, Cuonzo or Porter Jr.

I think Porter Jr simply being at MU has made MU a desired target for any uncommitted high level recruits in the area. Then again, Cuonzo is a big reason Porter is here to begin with (along with Romar getting fired in Wash).

Either way, it's been an awesome snowball effect and I'm very optimistic that the tag teaming they're doing this year will pay dividends for Cuonzo and Mizzou for years to come, especially in the St. Louis --> Columbia pipeline.

We were in his original top 13. Since committed before Cuonzo was hired, I’d think we have a good shot.

I doubt Mizzou is a destination for either Ramey or Gordon. Hellems is more likely than both right now.

Not sure why Mizzou wouldn't be a good option, we'd need to make room. Recruiting momentum is rolling right now though and good players want to play on good teams with talent. We offer that and have local appeal. T Ford has been quiet lately, but I'd expect him and his sales pitch to be in the mix.
