He'll be a 17 kid. DE/DT who played in last year's Under Armour game

Needless to say, a good get and an excellent get this late.

Everyone assumed he was JUCO, right? Has his academic situation changed?
Posted on 4/20/17 at 8:35 am to the808bass
He has qualified. Will enroll in time for fall camp

That's a huge get. Especially this late in the game. Would guess he doesn't play a ton, but certainly depth needed at that position and hopefully a future starter type with his talent.

he'll play a lot more if hes at DE.
As I noted in the class thread, from everything I've read, he would have been a BIG time recruit had teams not thought he was 100% JUCO bound. That killed his recruiting(thing Harry Ballard). Anyone signed to play for bama, and after reading their board they are bummed about this one, is legit.

Landing 2 of the 5 top recruits from Arkansas and both from Fayetteville.
That has to sting for Hog fans.
It would be great in roads to the top football high school in Arkansas if they were not getting a new coach next year.

Powell never had an offer from Arkansas.

No one knows what Powell's recruiting was like after he committed to Wake Forest. Arkansas was certainly in on him though. He's a lot better than Arkansas' '17 QB commit, tbqh fam.

This was Arky's 2017 commit who was also offered by Mizzou.

He can dominate any gap you make him responsible for. The staff will have him add weight to rotate at 3-tech.

He will blow the gaps and knock last week's snot out of you!

I could certainly see that, but it makes more sense for our roster of he plays DE.
That would be 6 DT we took last year and two in this class that are must takes no matter what.
We were thin, but it's starting to get crowded.

Neither had Arkansas offers. Fayetteville kids don't leave if they get offered.
Great get late though. Good move on your staff.

Why is Alabama offering him and not Arkansas?
Seems to be a misevaluation by Bert, if that's the case.

Seems like the opposite of Pinkel. Bert is good at schmoozing but piss poor at evaluating. Not just Byers, bama doesn't offer bad players, but didn't he miss Crockett?

He could definitely stay at 275 and play on the edge. I think he can play at 295 and force things on the interior that will make the jobs of Beisel and Prewett easier. Once Anderson is on campus and Frazier is healthy, the two deep at DE isn't any less crowded. There should be great competition this August.
