If you think we won't fill the class, then sure.

At this point. It's simply not relevant.

Mizzou will finish with 24-25 recruits. The bad start to the season cost Mizzou a chance at having a top 25 recruiting class. Mizzou needed to clean up in state to have a chance at that.
It can still be a solid/typical Mizzou recruiting class.

It’s relevant in assessing his performance as a coach and a recruiter, as uncomfortable for you as that is.

You’re mixing metrics, which is fun.

Mizzou is ranked 70ish in recruiting.

P5 teams currently ranked lower include (depending on your ranking service) Stanford,
Ole Miss, Oregon State, Kstate, Utah. That’s it.

Recruiting is really irrelevant at this point in terms of assessing Odom. Not saying it won't affect us later down the road, but if he wins games and he gets maybe 4 more recruits. What are you gonna do? Fire a coach with improvement of 3 wins from the year before because he didn't recruit well enough? Good luck hiring anyone worth anything after those optics.

This class will finish with 24-25 recruits. So it’s safe to assume Mizzou add another 14-15 recruits. If they have similar rankings to those that Mizzou has, that’s a class in the 30’s based on 247 class calculator and comparing it to previous years numbers.

Again, that's greatly influenced by number of recruits at this point.

Which would be relevant if you thought that Mizzou will sign 10 less recruits than most other schools. Otherwise, it's not.

It’s irrelevant to whether we hire or fire him.

It does likely change his arc of success.

Sure. But it’s a pipe dream (see wubilli’s post) to think that we’re finishing top 30 just because.

We have to rebuild the recruiting class just like he’s doing the season.

He’ll figure it out or he won’t.

According to the 247 composite

Mizzou' average ranking is 85.03

The #25 class West Virginia is 86.14

I mean, I know recruiting rankings are infallible (especially outside of the elite recruits where the rankings just aren't all that accurate), but surely that 1% point isn't some insurmountable difference that no one could possibly overcome.

Wait so think Mizzou will only bring in 10 recruits this year?
All indications are that this class will be a full 25 recruits. Plug those numbers into the class calculator and you can get an idea of where Mizzou finishes in recruiting rankings.

So it doesn’t matter who we bring in, just plug em in the calculator and presto we’re West Virginia. Makes sense.

I’ve said this several times on this thread, the class average should be how classes are ranked, not by numbers recruited. Its currently quantity over quality. Not a good way to measure.

We need to finish the class strong. Who in the world has ever said any different?

If we finish the season strong, which we are currently, it's my belief we will also finish the class relatively strong. Will we be reeling in multiple blue chippers? No, probably not but we can fill the class with quality athletes that have a chance to develop.

Our program will be built on development. That's how you win here. Jury is still out of course, but that's how we will win if we do. Win a few more games next year, have our fans actually be bothered to show up to the game and not shower the program in negativity, and we'll probably add a few more ready made type guys. Consistently recruiting in the top 15 though is just not realistic. It won't happen no matter the coach. 25-40 is a good expectation each year and from then you better be damn good at identifying fits and developing them once they get here.

I agree. 70th isn’t strong. You agree.

I do, but it's also a function of not having many commitments which will be remedied by signing day. If we finish off with roughly the same caliber of guys we have already gotten we will be fine.

If MU's class had 9 more 5.4 rated players in it to meet the 20 player mark for the metric, their class would calculate out at 1309 and be ranked #35 in the country.

We would be bitching about having half a class made up of 2* players. That metric is garbage until the classes are full.

I’m not for sure how players in small media markets are rated. In southwest Missouri there are players that should have higher ratings, but don’t get the attention that players in the metro area get. Missouri players that are ranked in scouting sites focus on players in Metro areas.

Webb City offensive lineman Landon Bebee is a stud with very little interest from D1 schools.

Carthage WR/Athlete Akrell Smith no interest or very little.

2019 recruits

Carl Junction- Rayquion Weston
Webb City- Durand Henderson

Just a few players that are D1 talent that are not scouted players.

Mizzou may lose in state players from Metro areas, but many players in the state are overlooked and not recruited.

Those players need to go to camps in the summer. Either with the recruiting services or the camps put on by teams.

If they do that and have impressive test numbers, schools will look at them.

More than likely Mizzou ends up right where Barry's classes have the last two years, top 50.
