Josh was starring down the mizzou hat almost the whole time, leaned in towards the mu hat, and then reached for bama. ouch.

Well, Rivals has crashed again. Another wonderful signing day tradition!

What a boring NSD

Hopefully the new staff can fix this part of the recruitment process. We are in a conference where half of the members have an ESPN crew covering their signing day. The "hype" is aided and created by the machine which plays a big part in how recruits lean. Our pitch of playing on national TV every week is drowned out by the same pitch from our SEC rivals. Except they can add the caveat of saying their name and giving the prospect praise on ESPN which aides in building the personal brand.

Our coaching staff has a tough hill to climb in recruiting. What can we sell from an on the field standpoint?

No BCS bowl appearances
No conference championships
No signature SEC win in conference* (Top 10 win over Georgia in '13 maybe)

I think Odom and his staff can provide major improvement from an X and O standpoint. But it won't mean much when you put your 2 and 3 star players in positions to win against 4 and 5 stars who have the same coaching acumen to back them. That coaching shift and talent accumulation at our SEC rivals should make us nervous. Not scared but very nervous.

We can sell a bunch of 10 win seasons recently. 4 division titles in the past decade. Tons of first round picks.

Elite? No, but pretty damn good.

It's always going to be an uphill battle recruiting and what has happened on field is far down the list. Poor home state for talent, below average stadium/facilities. We don't cheat (enough). Smallish fanbase. Average history, etc.

The best thing we can do in the interim is to get that South EZ complex finished. We need football only facilities and one of those shiny locker rooms. That would help.

Besides missouri/southern illinois had a bad year for recruits.

Why was Camp so enamored with Pittsburgh? You'd think with all the recent success the DL has had sending players to the NFL, plus the addition of Shipp, he'd rather wear black and gold.

Strong is not in yet. Starting to worry about this one. Taylor was in a long time ago.

It's possible.

That would be a big blow to our RB class after not getting Jacobs or Byrd.

That's why they were pushing so hard for another RB. Strong wasn't a great student in HS, trying to get out of JUCO in 1.5 years would be very difficult. Not sure we can expect him here this season, may end up like Howell and enroll in January of 17.

Never heard of him.

Former Mich State DC. Made their defense great. Big reason they have been near the top of the heap for the past 2-3 seasons.

I would think Ray, Golden, Smith, Ealy, Hood (all high draft picks) would trump one Pittsburgh player, but I guess not.
