If pinkel was panicked about this class he would be offering a bunch of unknown 2 stars. I was panicking last year at this time because we had very little ( I think tanner Owen was the only one)and they still put together their best ever class. This year I'm calm and convinced he will do it again. There is not much in state so they have to use summer visits and camps to get out of staters interested.

New #1 player in the state.

4* WR Xavier Sneed

But he's a huge basketball recruit. So who does a better job recruiting? GP or KA?

This guy just get on the radar or what?

Seems weird he's not been a name we've been hearing about.

I don't get it. I've certainly heard his name but it's always been in the basketball context. Maybe 247 is frickin with us. I didn't even know he played football. Having said that, I could see a kid like that being a helluva football player. I think he's a 3* SF in basketball and will probably get looks from the likes of SLU and other mid-major to lower end high-major schools.

I actually did a search for him and came up with a thread on the recruiting board where ProjectP mentioned him back in I think 2013 as a WR. Kudos. ProjectP...got any more info on him?

Per is twitter, it sure seems like he considers himself a basketball player and not a football player. He plays with Tatum for the Eagles.

He may be more heavily recruited and a higher talent in hoops than I gave him credit for.

Jeez this guy came out of nowhere. Have there been some camps recently or something? Not only #1 in the state...he's the #7 WR in the nation.

Here's the thread ProjectP had posted on the recruiting board back in 2013.

Man...these football highlights were hard as a hog-head cheese sandwich to find of Xavier Sneed.

He doesn't even have any offers. Maybe he's made it clear he wants to play hoops?

Bring him in and let him play both. I wouldn't be a fan of Lock doing that, but no problem with a WR. Justin Gage was able to excel on the football field while playing hoops.

He's a top 100 player in basketball. 4*

Is 247 the one that can't distinguish between two sport athlete ratings? Am I just imagining that?

They put his basketball ranking in for football. He is strictly basketball but did play for the central hawks last season for football. He is NOT a 4* FOOTBALL recruit. He is a 4* BASKETBALL recruit.

Yeah, I'm calling foul on 247. I like the size and I like the athleticism but no way those are highlights of the #1 player in the state and no way he has the speed you'd think you'd see in a WR that was top 10 in the nation.

Moving on.

I don't have much more info on him. I think my cousin said Mizzou basketball was looking at him, but don't know if they pulled the trigger on an offer or not. That Eagles team is absolutely loaded though, so he's going to get a lot of eyeballs on him at the EYBL.

I imagine if he made a lot of football highlight worthy plays, there would be some film on him somewhere. I mean, there are recruits from his school every year so those kinds of guys typically get spotted pretty early. I thought more would have come of him after his sophomore year when so many schools were looking at the big OL that went to FSU.

Bama taking 2 TE's from our backyard in back to back years.

These kids saw Mizzou when we were TE U.

Kind of a big shame if you ask me.

And our offensive coordinator is TE guy. Very disappointing.

I think it's more that he got offended we waited to offer him when he made it known he'd commit on Junior day. We keep slow playing these instate kids and it bites us sometimes. Good news is TE isn't a position we utilize much at all, so not a huge loss but still shouldn't happen.

I thought Scales said in an interview after the JR day that Henson told him they wanted to get some verified numbers on him. Scales did the Adidas camp the last weekend of March and we offered within 4 days. Is that really that slow? He didn't seem to mind Bama slower playing him though. I like Scales as an athlete and would love to have him on our team, but even if he would have committed to us prior, it seems like he would have easily flipped.

Ofodile was waiting on a Zou offer for the longest, but they said that he had to earn it. I'm surprised he didn't tell us to kiss where the sun doesn't shine. When we finally offered he strung us along and then said "kiss off" and then went to Oregon.

They should be 10 steps ahead of the game when it comes to the in state kids. There is no reason that every in state player they offer doesn't have it unless they are a back up plan. I understand if their process takes longer with out of state kids, but if it were me, I'd make sure every junior (soon to be senior) that is in Missouri that I want has an offer by junior day. Might pick up some early commitments that way.

Having said that, I've been biting my tongue a bit because frankly I haven't seen him play football but I have seen him play basketball. I am shocked that Bama even offered him. In basketball, it always struck me that he was getting pushed around (granted by guys a year or 2 older) and didn't seem to be the most athletic on the court. Maybe that has no correlation to the football field, but I remember thinking when his name first popped up thinking "Football?!?! Really?!?!?!" Wish the kid well and hope he proves me wrong and is a helluva player, but I'm not losing any sleep on this one. There are literally 200 more TE's in the country that are better, the same or hardly a noticeable drop off.
