We didn’t lack physicality.

We lacked focus and discipline. Moorhead did not get the team under control and focused early on, the refs tried to do it and they never got support from our coaching in this regard. So calls started going against us heavily.

Defense played good most of the game.

Offense was terrible. Bad penalties and bad playcalling. We are a run team and straight up abandoned it, with a 50% completion passer and mediocre receivers, and in the rain of all things.

Moorhead needs to step it up. You cannot be a nice guy. You need intensity and authority. Every player who got unsportsmanlike conduct just run sprints Monday until the very words unsportsmanlike conduct makes them puke.

This is the SEC. I hope Moorhead does some reflection and learns some lessons from today. A win next week will soothe things and still have a chance at a great year, Auburn and LSU aren’t that great after watching them today. But we have to play to our potential and clean things up

I agree 100%. A loss next weekend would really turn the fan base against Moorhead.

I think Moorhead's offensive scheme is failing because his players were recruited from Mullen's system. He needs to alter his approach to fit the players he does have.

The amount of stupid penalties we received tonight and all season for that matter has to improve. The lack of discipline is absolutely on the coaching staff.

I’m willing to roll with the Penn State offensive transition timeline for a couple more weeks. Week 4 of 2016 they went to Michigan and got blown out with less than 200 yards of total offense. I’ll ride that train for a couple more weeks but that’s about it.

There is no excuse for that. It started creeping in last year and has gotten out of control. Time to start sitting folks if that’s what it takes.

What is wrong with Fitzgerald? Is it the new system? I haven’t been able to watch y’all yet but have seen his numbers every week.

If it is the system what about letting Thompson play some more?

We would give you Jalen..but he can't pass either. Sorry We keeping Tua.

The system look awkward as hell for Fitz.. He is not a pocket passer.

That was the worst coaching I have seen since the Croom Era. His game plan was to come out throwing with a running QB, on the road, in a loud SEC enviornment, in the rain...Is there even a gif out there that can represent such insanity.

They were able to contain us on the ground. And it wasn't because State wasn't trying. The OL just was getting owned up front. Hard to believe that. But it's the truth. Add in the fact all of the false starts and it was just a disturbing performance all around.

Honestly most of Fitz passes were on target last night. Our left tackle got manhandled every play and we never adjusted playcalling to it so Fitz was under a lot of pressure. Receivers had some bad drops as well

I’m very concerned about the Oline play. They’ve looked great thus far till last night.

I’m hoping this was just an off night thing looking ahead to Florida. Maybe some over confidence among everyone including coaches.

This same offensive line dominated Kentucky last year. The only difference is coaching.

I guess you could say that. But to me Stoops is a very sound defensive minded coach and he had that Dline prepared to play.

Our players seemed to have a culture in which they would rather brag about how great they were rather than having a plan to win the game like Kentucky did.

It does not matter about talent if you are outcoached and are not as motivated. Kentucky had both and won. Let us see if our players let their emotions get in the way Saturday Night.

This is not a program changing loss because Kentucky is not Old Dominion they are ranked now and that was an SEC Road Game. But it was a tough one to swallow for sure.

Our season is far from over, but our chances at a ‘great’ season are quickly evaporating.

All things considered, the D put up a heroic effort and did everything they could to win the game. They basically held UK to 14 points when the game was still in doubt. This was with UK getting a consistent short field and the benefit of a bewildering amount of calls. The only real negative was they fell into UK’s goading which didn’t help our case with the refs.

Our O looked like a bloated whale carcass, on the verge of exploding from gaseous buildup. Basically all the false starts and delays of game were on the coaching staff having a poor game plan to account for the conditions (crowd noise, defensive shifts, rain) stacked against us. I’m not at all upset at Eiland’s performance because he was set up for failure. Kentucky didn’t respect our passing game at all and it paid off big time for them. I’m more concerned now with the square peg, round hole scenario because Joe’s stated offensive scheme is taking what the Defense gives you. Unfortunately, it’s looking less and less like we have the personnel group that can ‘take’ passing opportunities. I’m not giving up on things clicking yet, but Saturday was a reality check.

And now a little on the reffing of that game: what the frick what the frick what the fuuuuuccccccckkkkk. You can never say with certainty that calls ‘lost’ you the game, but I’m confident in saying that that game is way closer if it is called fairly. Delta’s point about the refs penalizing us to try and keep us in check is the closest thing to a logical explanation I can think of for that abomination I witnessed. At least two of UK’s scoring drives were kept going on mind-boggling calls that even the announcers pointed out. Rayford’s DPI on that deep pass has to be one of the most blatantly wrong calls I’ve ever seen. It’s one thing for that to be a no call, but the TE literally blocked Rayford’s vision and RAYFORD was the one that interfered??? Conversely, UK could all but tackle our receivers and flags are GETTING PICKED UP??? Im usually pretty level-headed with the refs, and historically I think we’ve been in the “win some, lose some” camp, but we got absolutely hosed in that game.

UF is gonna be a big challenge. I think we have the talent to win, though. Joe is smart and I think he’s learning some quick lessons, but this season could come off the rails in a big way if we lay an egg for Mullen’s return.

Side note: our fan sites have gone frickin nuclear. Even a strong contingent on SPS has lost their damn minds. I just thought I blew up on Saturday. These people have lost their grasp on reality.

The expectations coming into this season are clearly exerting an immense amount of pressure on the fan base and team. We have a sort of desperation tied up with this season because of the perceived level of talent we have coupled with the impending loss of it next year. Hopefully Joe and co. prove to be the recruiters they’re billed as. I do believe Joe’s system can be executed successfully in the SEC, but it’s hard enough to get talent to Starkville when we’re winning. If this year doesn’t pan out and the next couple are lean, Joe will have a much tougher row to hoe

I would also be remiss if I didn’t give UK props. They’re a scrappy football team that can hang with anyone just about. We made several mistakes, they had several calls go their way, and they took full advantage of it all.

I guess that’s one of the reasons I love college football so much is the volatility of it all. Personnel-wise, these are mostly the same two teams that met last year, and yet the outcomes couldn’t be more different.

I give Kentucky credit. They played more focused and just wanted it more than our team did. We have to run the ball. The OL had better get its act together as well. The penalties were a collection of being unfocused and some were just plain bad calls.

The drive where Kentucky took the lead should have had an offensive PI call instead of defensive. It was an underthrown ball that the receiver had to come back to try to catch. Our guy was where he was supposed to be and the receiver mugged him on the way up to make the catch. I would definitely send that one into the league office today. The picked up defensive PI on our drive later in the game was bad as well.

Now, I think we lose the game either way. But, the officiating was as much hot garbage as our effort.

The crowd for UK was shocking. That crowd was a million times louder than I have ever heard a Kentucky football crowd be. I have never thought "This Kentucky crowd is intimidating" until then.

Saturday was a perfect example of the crowd affecting the game and in multiple facets. From hampering offensive play calling to feeding the energy/momentum of the home team, they made a big difference.

Home field advantage is a big deal, especially in the SEC
