Because MSU is where he's always wanted to play, its where his Dad played. We weren't a viable option with Rick Ray but Ben Howland changes all of that. If we do get his signature, that's the reason.

You'd figure a one and done would sign with a contender. Howland has never really had year 1 success

Everyone I know is saying that it's a done deal for MSU.

Dixson is no longer being pursued, from what Paul says.

All they're looking to add is Kasongo and Malik.

That makes sense...I was not sure why we were going after him. Maybe Howland thought we may lose Weatherspoon but talked him into staying?

I'm not sure either. I mean his tape looked pretty good, but it was from his sophomore year or something.

The only question with Weatherspoon was grades but that has been taken care of already.

So let's say we get everyone we want to for next season..

What should our level of expectation be? NIT? Dance?

I'm just excited for us to be fielding a team we can all watch and not get totally frustrated.

If we somehow landed Malik I think we are a bubble team.

Pussy. If we sign Malik, we are probably a 1-seed... maybe a 2. OK, a 3, but definitely no worse than a 3 unless we are a 4.

If we get everyone we'll be looking something like
1-IJ
2-Malik
3-Sword
4. Kasongo
5. Ware

6. Weatherspoon/ Thomas
7. Houston
8. Black
9. Ndoye/ Zuppardo/ Daniels (whichever one we don't cut loose)

I think the only teams clearly better than that roster in the SEC would be UK, Arky (if Qualls and Portis return), UF talent is still there, and maybe ATM or LSU (if Mickey returns).

I hope I'm not being a homer and I'm trying not to get too carried away but we could be a tournament team. I hope Ray was a worst coach than we actually thought, and Chicken, Ware, and Fred all improve significantly under Howland.

If we land Malik to add to a returning veteran team that will now have a real coach in Howland then we are SOLIDLY into the NCAA tournament. Not a higher end seed by any means but solidly in. Forget this bubble team stuff. We should have easily been an NIT team THIS year if we had a coach that knew what he was doing.

Well they will certainly be better on the offensive end if thay get any instruction at all given Ray didn't even coach that half of the game. He used the old "it will take care of itself" philosophy on offense.

It would depend on a lot of things...like how good Zuppardo, Weatherspoon and Kasongo are.

I expect Kasongo to be the 3rd or 4th option on offense behind Malik, Sword, and maybe Ware. He'll just give us size for rebounding and defense that we haven't had. Either way, he's got to be better than Daniels or Ndoye.
