Guidry and Heath?

Guess Dan won't be receiving any Christmas cards this season.

He doesn't need our commits. He should leave them the frick alone. Seriously. If he can't find receivers in FL, he isn't trying.

He definitely earned his lazy recruiter reputation. He better ramp it up quickly or he'll find himself looking for a job at UMASS in a couple of years.

I'm this close to calling Mullen a son of a bitch to his face on Twitter

Saw on another board where Knox (our interim) is actually going to UF. Anybody heard that?

Agreed. A little surprised it wasn't English since he was a head coach for 5 years, but he's only been on staff since Feb.

It's a dog and pony show. He knows none of the ones he is targeting will flip.

Not kidding, no need to worry about any of those they visited. At least not with UF. What it does do is make it look like they are hitting the ground running and start him off on the right foot at UF as far as perception goes.

ETA: Apparently they were very professional and weren't trying to poach.

It was no secret how lazy he could be on the recruiting trail. He probably is just checking his contacts in his phone and setting up meetings.. the guy can get lax on putting in the time. The thing for him is Florida has the name to pull recruits on its own.. he won’t have to work too hard at it. I still see Georgia and Bama pulling the top talent out of Florida with Miami right behind closing the gap. Also depends on who FSU hires if Jimbo leaves.

Yeah kind of frustrating, now that our insiders can come out with what they have known all along, that Mullen apparently just doesn't force the staff to recruit hard.

He's going to have to do better at it with UF to make the next step, best of luck to him.

Former wide receivers coach Billy Gonzales, announced Tuesday as having taken the same position with Dan Mullen at Florida, spent the day in Mississippi targeting Callaway wide receiver Malik Heath and Hinds Community College wide receiver Stephen Guidry.

quote:

Mullen called Heath Monday evening and told him his offer still stood with Florida and for Heath that meant a lot. Florida has always been a dream school for Heath even before Mullen was hired as the head coach. With the addition of Mullen, Heath said it's starting to feel like it was meant to be.

quote:

They are the top dog right now," Heath said. "The way Coach G (Gonzales) came down here to talk, that was important. It’s somewhere I would commit to. Florida has always been a top school of mine. When they first offered me I was so shocked I didn’t know my talent was good enough to go to Florida because so many great people have come out of Florida. That’s always been one of my dream schools.”

quote:

Like Gonzales, offensive line coach John Hevesy has left Mississippi State to take the same position at Florida. He was also in Mississippi, specifically in Greenwood with offensive tackle Kwatrivous Johnson. But Johnson indicated he remains a Bulldog.

The only two good WR we had while Mullen was here were Fred Ross and Chad Bumphis. Ross was a guy Tim Brewster brought in...at the last minute. Tim Brewster did more WR recruiting in like 2 days than anyone on Mullen's staff ever did. Bumphis was brought in by Croom.

Mullen had a top 10 draft pick WR sitting there right by him and could not bring him in. Gifted a pro ready WR and could not bring him in.

Why would he bring Knox? Isn't Knox a Mississippi guy?

I think Mullen just doesn't want to bother looking for different staff members so is just bringing over as many as he can.

It'll be interesting to see how Mullen holds up in Florida's rivalry games. Coming out completely unprepared vs. Georgia and FSU on a regular basis will not be tolerated there. He got away with it at State because the more egregious egg bowl games came during otherwise successful seasons. Going 8-4 at Florida and getting shite stomped by Kirby will not be a good look.

A receiver would probably like Moorhead's offense better than Mullen's. Let's hope CJM gets after it with Guidry and Heath ASAP.

2014 pissed me off the most because playoffs were on the line. No excuse for that game

If DeRunnya got called for half of the pass interference's he committed I dont think you would be saying that.
