I don't have problems quoting, but I do dislike that it takes extra steps. On a computer, when you highlight text you can just hit the quote button and it autopopulates it into your reply box. In mobile, you have to highlight text, copy it, hit the quote button, then paste it.

I don't think you understand the problem. I know how to use UBB code. My issue is getting the text I want to quote into the text box.

I just highlight the text, press quote, and viola...
I guess you could also copy it, press quote, and paste it. Where is in the process is it screwing up?

Your post works fine for me to quote. But say I try to do it with this post. It'll select EVERYTHING. From the quote to the timestamp. If I try to shorten the highlight selection, it jumps back and forth from quoting everything to what I want really fast.
I have to quote everything and then delete the timestamp and other quote.
Shits weird.

I agree with OP. I would rather post on my cracked HTC One with a shite battery than my iPad because of the quoting problems.

I have massive problems with quoting too, but it seems like it's never the same thing that sends it over the edge. I've got to where I don't even look at this website on my phone, and it's probably made me a better person
at all the children ITT making it about android.

Updated to the new OS on iPhone. Now when I hit the quote button, the browser shuts down.
And to CNB, I understand your problem completely. I hate it.

It's not just on mobile. I have the same issue on my iPad (with the new OS) in Google Chrome and Safari using the desktop version.
Like you said, it's all fine and well if you quote/img/link before selecting the text box but if you want to say do a quote and an image or multiple quotes you have to actually type out the code.
ETA: And as 808 said, the whole browser shuts down if you try to do it after selecting the text box.

God forbid the post I want to quote already has a quote in the post. It makes my entire browser flip out trying to select what I want.

This isn't an iPhone vs android thread.
Actually there is a huge functionality difference between Mobile Safari and Android Chrome on this site.
Mobile Safari (or ANY iOS browser, I have tried them all) cannot quote selected text when you click the button. You have to copy and paste. It is an issue with iOS that hopefully will be fixed in a later build of iOS 9. Even iOS Chrome (which it use 99% of the time) won't do it, even though iOS Chrome is less wonky than iOS Safari when it comes to trying to copy out of a replied to post (to paste into the quote pop up).
Android Chrome meanwhile will quote just like desktop Chrome will.
The flipside is Android users will sometimes get app redirects instead of ads.

Only for iOS devices. Android Chrome can do inline quoting easily. I am on this site enough I am considering trading in the iPad for a Nexus 9.
I have actually tried to submit this as a bug to Apple and the iOS Chrome team. I don't think Chicken can fix it.
