I am no Rory fan, but I can understand. The Ryder Cup is a big deal to them and he played like shite. I see it the same as a player crying after losing the super bowl or the NBA Championship.

You shouldn't cry when you lose. You should be angry.

...and you should laugh at funerals.

I am sure he was angry as well.

And Mickelson and Woods were never either.

I'll take McIlroy and Poulter's emotion any day. At least they give a shite.

They were crying because they just realized with this basic American line up, they will not be winning a Ryder cup anytime soon.

The American team looks great.

It was an arse whipping.

However, things can change in a hurry. Who knows what it will be like in 2, 4, 6 or 10 years?

Maybe Europe will have a Cantlay or Xander emerge?

Rahm played great. Showed me a few things. Westwood, who I respect, should not have been there. Poulter has never been as good as he thinks, ams should have been coaching.
DJ went the fuk off! And Morikawa is a man to be reckoned with. The US has a great future.

I saw it as a release of emotions when he can’t even get his game up for a Ryder cup. That was years of sucking bottled up into 2 mins. Normally you can say oh it’s fine I didn’t win. I’m rich as frick. None of that matters for Ryder cup.

I second this. I’m sure at times this past season Rory would think, “well, I’ll get it fixed by the time the Ryder Cup is here.” And then we he was just as bad this week as he has been all of the other weeks for the last couple of years...

Rory is lost. That was tears of “my gosh I used to be so good and now I suck.”

Rory seems to have stopped caring as much about winning tournaments and could build his identity on being a great Ryder cup player, and now that’s gone too.

The us team left off about 5 guys who were all better than the bottom 6 of Europe. It was so lopsided. But this was expected..I’ll be impressed if they go into Rome and dominate.

Agreed. For the last several years Rory has excused his less than stellar (for his standards) play with the whole focusing on my family, I don’t have anything to prove to anyone angle. That excuse doesn’t hold as much weight in the Ryder Cup because it’s supposed to be about pride and your home and all of that family type of stuff.

I think that emotion was him realizing that with this lackadaisical golf is secondary attitude he’s taken he will no longer be one of the elite players in the world.

It’ll be interesting to see in the next few years if he gets back to the grind and becomes a top 5 player again or if he accepts his slide into mediocracy (again, for his standards).
