Right now my fear factor for this game is a 3 out of 10. There is the outside worry UT comes out hot and Trask gets overwhelmed in his first start, just seems unlikely. Kid seems calm and level headed don't think he will get flustered quite as easily.

Still. It probably ends up close but we know how to win in the end..so I expect us to. Would really like a nice blow out of course to help with perception a bit.

I don't think pressure is a big issue with Trask -- several of his best throws have been with guys right in his face. He's had a few bad throws, but it's just part of growing up and getting the right experience. Keep in mind, almost all of his downs were throwing downs -- meaning the defense knew that we would be throwing it and were actively trying to scheme around it.

I think what worries me with Trask is more his health. He has been injury prone, and if we lose him and have to go with Emory Jones -- it is going to be a long, long year.

OL has shown they can Pass block good enough to get by for the most part. Kyle can slide in the pocket, I think He'll be fine.

True, much much do you guys think Emory plays?

I have a feeling he will get some early opportunities to throw the vols off with change of pace

We need rushing yds to keep UTs defense on its heels. Having Emory doing some option mixed with a bomb over their heads would be great.

Without run game we run into tough situations for the QBs.

I think Emory actually starts the first series to throw them off immediately. Then we settle into Trask. Just frick with them.

Imo depends on Trask, Coach Mullen isn't going to stop the hot hand if he comes out playing well.

Any chance the team is going to take Tenn. too lightly and come out flat? Have seen it before ala UK last season.

Hope not, we need to set the tone early and run them off the field.

Probably not but we seem to start games off slow either way so don't be shocked if Tenn has an early lead, nor panic. We know how to win.

He actually did very well even though the run game wasn't working.

It can't happen every game, but hopefully his passing opens up some more running lanes.

Synergy and all that.

Teans dont need to load the box on us...we cant win one on one match ups at the line right now ??. I trust the staff to fix it though. They've proven themselves able to improve a team throughout the year.

Would be great to see some good run blocking though. Make me feel fuzzy inside to see a guard pull and actually get to the edge and block the guy be is supposed to lol

For some reason, I think this is the game where things start to click for the team and they skull drag UT.

Unless UT is greatly improved, we better win this handily, or LSU, Auburn, and UGA are going to be rough.

Nah Lucius...even we if win by a slim margin, it just means we will continue winning. AU,LsU and Jawja don't worry me as much as road games against Mizzou and USCe do.

2008 I think:

quote:

Teans dont need to load the box on us...

They are, they have been every single game. Just listen to Gator Nation Podcast (I heard it confirmed after I made the claim). They have been daring us to throw every game because, like I said, we have become very easy to scheme against.

This all changes once you show them that you can hit passes downfield with some consistency. When Trask came into the game he had 3 passing first downs all back to back to back. They changed their entire scheme from: Man-to-man on the outside, cover 1 and put the SS in the box.

This is why we also had several running plays work in the red zone when they hadn't worked before.

A balanced attack will always allow you to scheme around poor line play unless you turn it over consistently. As long as we play smart, make first downs and make the defense respect either the run or the pass, we'll be successful.
