Anyone hearing anything about if either one has an edge?

I believe this will play out in the fall, maybe as late as after the first two games before the true starter is named.

I lean to Philo having to lose the job despite what they say. I just hope whoever it is can be an average SEC QB and hold up decent under pressure. I watched some of Philo's plays and he didn't have to do a whole lot but he was composed mostly the few times he did drop back against Miami, who had a good pass rush, after coming into the game in the 1st quarter replacing King for the rest of the game. GT upset Miami in that game. His deep stuff wasn't always pretty in his playing time. He looks like he will be able to run a little but he definitely isn't close to what King was running the ball at GT. I doubt we get too many rushing yards out of him but he can probably pick up key 3rd downs with his legs. I think Sumrall isn't the type like Mullen was to keep someone in there (Franks) if he thinks the backup might can change things though if we start losing some games.

I like it! Never enter a contest expecting to lose, or just stay home! Go Gators!

Just hoping we can get decent QB play out of one of them at least. I doubt either one has star potential but we have some nice weapons at WR. Sumrall has shown he will play someone who he feels is a better option even if someone is assumed to be the starter. His starter in 2024 at Tulane Darian Mensah (who is now Miami's starting QB) was considered 3rd string going into camp before the season with another QB considered to be the assumed starter and he started Mensah instead. I think if its close Philo gets the nod because of the OC but if Jones clearly looked better they would start him. As far as the season if the QB is struggling I think Sumrall has no issue making a change.

If they're even I'm wondering if Sumrall will give each a start between FAU and Campbell.
